Just a quick note from me to say that, sadly, I won't be renewing my CAMFC membership in the new year. There have been several factors involved in me making this decision, not least an apparent lack of free time! I also feel that the recent CAA legislation will not help our hobby in the years to come, and I am perhaps slightly unwilling to invest any more into such an unknown environment. This is especially true, since I would only have 18 months before heading off to university, without my models!

At this point, I just want to say a massive thank you to all of the people that have helped me endlessly since 2014. Without people like Rod, Emay, Trevor, Peter, Emma, James, Shane, Steve, Gerard, Duncan, Ivan, Sevan, John, Les and the Ian's, I doubt model flying would have been this fun 1f609.png;)

I will also be looking to sell or get rid of the plethora of models, parts and equipment that I have collected over the years, and I will hopefully be allowed to advertise it all here in due course.

This is not, however, a final goodbye from me. I still hope to make it to open club events such as the summer family BBQ, as well as try to keep my eye in completing the occasional slope soaring session with James, or perhaps the odd trip somewhere here and there with the sole survivor of my once mighty fleet - a good old foamie Wot 4 1f642.png:)

So, after all of that, all that remains for me to say now is -

TTFN (To The Field Now)

Hi from Camberleyhttps://members.camfc.co.uk/topic/1262-hi-from-camberley/

Good evening all,

I hope you are all well??? I have been flying RC for roughly 6 months, but only really in local fields and some privately owned land I have access to. I have joined a club fairly local to me and am having my first 'assisted flight' there on Sunday, which I'm really looking forward to. I've taught myself to a reasonable standard, and the feedback I've had on other forums has been pretty positive. I'm absolutely loving it.

I visited the sight at the Old Croydon Airport, and absolutely loved it. I have a Wot4 foam-e, which I do most of my learning on, and an E-flite P-51D which I occasionally hack around with. I brought the P-51, and in the light breeze today was an absolute blast.

I may look to join the club in the new year as your site at Fickleshole seems quite good, so I thought I'd introduce myself to you all here! Hope to speak with some of you soon.

Karl.

Making a return after 15 yearshttps://members.camfc.co.uk/topic/1130-making-a-return-after-15-years/

Hi guys,

I'm new to the forum but used to be a member of the club late 90s early 2000 ( where I was awarded 2001 junior achievement award) along with my dad Bob Ford.

Also his dad used to fly heli over at purley way many many years ago.

I have already put a post in the sale/wanted section about trying to track down a Hanno Magic, if possible the one my dad owned then donated to the club (with a bunch of other planes and kit, even an own design high wing twin that was nearly built)

As for flying I will be making my way down to Avicraft to see what leccy planes there are that would be suitable for Croydon flying and need to persuade my dad to get back into it.

Maybe see you guys around

Dave

Somebody New ...https://members.camfc.co.uk/topic/511-somebody-new/Hi everyone, I thought it was about time I introduced myself ..

I'm Shane and I've recently joined CAMFC and I'm looking forward to gaining my wings, (sounds like an AA meeting that intro ..). Some of you may have seen me down the field on a couple Sunday's and I must say, as stated on the website you are a friendly club!

Last week bought my first trainer plane based on recommendations and advice freely given by other members, I went with the Boomerang 2 .. just finished building it today, took 19 hours all in, not too bad I don't think for a first time! So hopefully, if the weather holds out and my building is up to scratch, you might spot me up the field learning how to fly it!

Anyway, before I start waffling, I hope to see you up Fickleshole sometime soon and if ya have any questions .. please ask.

All the best,

Shane :D

Hello from a newbiehttps://members.camfc.co.uk/topic/472-hello-from-a-newbie/Newly joined and not sure what to do next. Do I come to a club night or to the field? I am 66 years of age and have just built an ARTF but no flying experience!!!!! Is there any body out there brave enough to take me on!? Looking forward to meeting up with you all. My dream is one day to build and fly a proper looking aeroplane but need to walk (very slowly and carefully) first so hope you can help me.

Cheers

Mike
