Club Members Peter Royall 47 Posted April 8, 2014 Club Members Share Posted April 8, 2014 The committee had considered the Club attending this new display, providing a static show of our models and promoting the club to spectators. The pitch was applied for, but there was some confusion as we were to be considered as a "trade Stand" thereby attracting a considerable sum as rental for the pitch. Having pointed out the mistake, we were directed to the Sevenoaks club, who were supposed to be arranging the model "flying" ? It would appear that the Sevenoaks club are not interested (allegedly), and we were directed to the Caterham Club. Same response! CAMFC then, will sit on the sidelines until the Organisers have got things sorted, but there will probably be no attendance for us at this event, as it stands at the moment. The Display is due to begin around mid-day, and go on until 8.30pm. Nothing to stop anyone attending as an individual. That is all, Oily
Club Members Bravedan 106 Posted April 9, 2014 Club Members Share Posted April 9, 2014 To be clear, we are talking about the "Festival of Flight" event on Saturday the 14th June..............? http://www.biggin-hill-today.co.uk/news.cfm?id=5394 http://www.bhfof.com/ I'm not at all surprised its detail is unclear, having been trying to get two major businesses to indicate what they want from my Trust for their centeneries for the past three months plus. They don't even know WHEN in the year they will do it!! Couple of points:- 1. This is BEFORE the Canadian Lanc is due to cross over to the UK, so does not feature as a possible sighting date for the two Lancs flying together. 2. We'll need confirmation from Committee as to model flying at Fickleshole that day. NOTE: It's an Airsoft day anyway.
Club Members Peter Royall 47 Posted April 12, 2014 Author Club Members Share Posted April 12, 2014 Thanks Dave, Just to be clear, ANY flying display at Biggin Hill grounds us for the period of the display. NO GREY AREA! Might also point out that before and after the display day, there may be aircraft arriving, practicing and departing, so a vigilant watch is required, and model flying "Solo" is to be discouraged. Sorry to be a bore, but as usual common sense rules, and CAP 658 applies. On the "UP" side, bring a picnic and a comfy chair to the field and enjoy the show! Thankyou, Your Chairman Oily
