Pilot Ben 28
Looks promising but then again they are only to be 4 volt so only good for tech not planes and when was the last time your laptop or phone caught fire? Nice to see a progression in the technology though
Club Members Trevor 25 Posted September 8, 2017 Author Club Members Share Posted September 8, 2017 Existing LiPos are only 3.7V per cell but several cells in series give more voltage. Wondering if the technology is scalable to more powerful cells for other than small tech use. I guess time will tell.
Pilot Ben 28
Yeah sorry Trev I meant it as in they are only experimenting and interested in 4 volt batteries! That said that's a one cell lipo so perhaps the ultra micros could use them but that said I don't see why they can't put the cells together as it's just a polymer coating to protect the electrode. Maybe in a few years time they might appear in hobbyking! They would however last much longer that regular lithium packs and maybe the technology could be used for large applications e.g. car batteries? Wait and see I think
