Safer Lithium batteries on the way?

Existing LiPos are only 3.7V per cell but several cells in series give more voltage.  Wondering if the technology is scalable to more powerful cells for other than small tech use.  I guess time will tell.

Yeah sorry Trev I meant it as in they are only experimenting and interested in 4 volt batteries!xD

That said that's a one cell lipo so perhaps the ultra micros could use them but that said I don't see why they can't put the cells together as it's just a polymer coating to protect the electrode. Maybe in a few years time they might appear in hobbyking!

They would however last much longer that regular lithium packs and maybe the technology could be used for large applications e.g. car batteries? Wait and see I think :D
