  1. LOL, I'm not actually going to buy this stuff, was just amazed at the secondary market for a micro-heli :)

lol, I know, boggles the mind though... £99 for the heli, then £600 to down-grade the living daylights out of it with crap..

Bit of bling does look good though 8)

  2. Nice canopy, but the rest is naff... I like plastic, it bounces when it lands :D

More plastic = More impact absorbtion, but yeah, I'm a sucker for the bling too, you should see my Tamiya Mini, that thing owes me some cash

I did however get some nice bright yellow and pink blaes for my mCPX just so I can see it better when spending all night hovering in 1 place lol

  3. BTW, the 10CG has a perfectly good Throttle cut/hold system in the Heli side of the programming house, they just seem to have fallen asleep while doing the fixed wing side!!

This is what triggered me to set this up now, as I was watching the Finless bob videos you told me to watch over a year ago and he did a video series on the Futaba 10C too, where he shows the Futaba 10C and its wonderful throttle cut menu, leaving me sitting there scratching ones head like the dog who didnt get a bone...

    "Huh, wheres mine"...

  4. True, didnt think of those big Mothers that fly on EP...

Still, anything on EP is dangerous to life an limbs, but maybe I'm just very pedantic about safety since my very first encounter with electric motors and having a model go flying across my office after arming itself, because no manuals had it anywhere that Ch3 on Futaba had to be reversed! lol..

Now I'm simply cautious, and methodic with all models, keeping safety in mind all the time, hence the wanting to find a way to launch the Xeno, safely, without loss of a digit. or Garard loosing an arm or breaking his neak..

Sadly the 10 doesnt have any super duper updatable card thingy, so its software is all you got, cant update it, and the 8FG is SD card updatable, so its likely to be far more recent software than my 10CG. The 10C/CH doesnt have a motor channel sadly.

Bit of a shame, but hey ho...

Am wondering how the heck you do update the firmware on a 10CG now lol...

(Big box addressed to ripmax and a 6 month wait probably)

  5. Cheers mate, but the 10CG is specifically listed as not being able to manage a throttle cut at all on Electric models, in both its user manual, and the official programming guide I had to buy, which was basically somebody translated the bloody manual into something understandable.

The 10C has it, but not the CG, but I know Leon was setting kill switches on the 7C's at the field a few weeks ago, he was running about shouting "off-set" with a big grin on his face lol, hence I wanted to find a way to actually do this on the 10CG, even though the manual and user guide say it cant be done..

I've never used an 8FG, but dual arming switches, are we really all that clumsy, or do I have short fingers?

  6. Hope your back feels better soon Rich.

Neat solution to throttle isolation if you don't want to play with mixes. I'll file it away for later use!

    :D:D

This one is definately going into my RC blog too, as I've seen others asking things like this about the Fut 10CG, and even its manual says it doesnt have a 100% throttle cut option, only throttle cut for IC models, where it closes the carb.. No good for an ESC..

  7. Hiya Dave, I dont mind launching the slipstream that way, but the Xeno is at least 2 or 3 tmes heavier, so, side launching it is a pig, hence the need to find a new way, as I really want to fly it again some more..

Thanks Arun, glad to know its not me doing something odd, that others do it like that too :D

When my back is better I hope to be able to test this out now, because those 2 - 3 seconds after throwing the Xeno, to getting the power on, are enough for it to be back on the ground already.

  8. Awite geezers....

So, I "think" I finally have the throttle cut issue resolved with the Futaba 10CG, because I wanted a way to throw the Xeno and have instant 100% throttle at the flick of a switch with my right hand, and still control the right stick...

I simply set 2 throttle curves, 1 with zero throttle regardless of throttle position, and at the flick of a switch, normal throttle curve, so I can flick the switch to set all 0% throttle, throw the wing over my head with fingers still safe, and as soon as its out of my hand, flick a switch and watch it go, while still controlling its direction!

    Simples

Not the textbook way to do it, but the 10CG doesnt have any way to 100% kill the throttle that I can remember, although I did manage it another way, somehow, a year or so ago, but cant for the life of me remember how I did it, so this seemed much easier..

    Should work..

  9. Nice one Arun, looks awesome, but not being a coder like that, I think I would be lost trying to understand the code it runs on.

Seems expensive too for a Tx only.. May have to have a more detailed read later, as its very small text heavy, that website.

Me like big pictures and fewer words :D

  10. Cheers Dave / Sam..

What exactly do you mean by snap?

Do you mean the model actually snaps in half, or it just does a violent move?

Spoke to Avi today and Ali recons the 2000kv motor can much easier run a 6x5.5 prop no probs, and gives a wider performance envelope, yet can stil go like the nutz, without all the noise, so am gonna give that a shot once its built....

  11. I used to host the giantcod website, and had many a long chat, into the night with the owner, and know where his stuff comes from, hence I never, ever shop there. Nothing against giantcod, but have seen a lot of the cheap crap, and what it does, and personally want to avoid that...

Time constraints dictate that for me, it takes me about a month to build what most would get done in a few evenings, so I dont want to spend 2 weeks building a wing, only to have it wrecked by some cheap shite components.

That extra few quid is pricess for me in peace of mind and better gear..

I dont want to have to buy a motor, only to then waste time having to balance the motor as well as the prop too, or have magnets parting company with the motor mid-flight or getting seriously hot, moreso than acceptable.

I dont mind using cheap crap on a firefly, but not something that goes further than the edge of the patch, and/or fast enough to put somebody in hospital if something went wrong.

Like Leon says too, I deliberately want an inrunner to reduce tourque... The Xeno has quite a bit of Torque roll on full power, and that thing is HEAVY, with only 250watts power, so you can imagine what it would do to a wing half the weight..

I was mostly concerned with what kv motor to use with what ESC/Prop... I think we have a winner now :-)

  12. What spec PC you running flight sim X on Arun?

I have it on mine too, but am finding it seems to grind to a halt and take forever to load up....

I have a twin i7 quad core setup with 8GB ram and RAID0 across 2 1TB drives and 1.5GB ATI graphics, yet it runs like a pig...

  13. I'm thinking for mine, the perkins 2000kv, or just copy Leons and dont go full throttle lol (Chicken)

Colin actually has both, the Raven and the Slipstream, and the last time I saw him, he had the Slipstream up the field which had the 2212 motor on..

Not sure which way to go now, the 2000kv inrunner or the 3000kv inrunner. Hmmmmmm..

I think either way its gonna get a EnErG 40A ESC, just to keep options open...

Thanks for the replies and help guys, and you Dave :-)

Am leaning towards the "be brave and stick a 3000kv inrunner in it" lol... Should be good for 1 mad flight..

  14. Hey guys (Those who have, or had Slipstreams)

So, I've veered a bit off the Multiplex road, crappy sat nav, and wound up with a Flyingwings Slipstream wing..

Dont ask me how it happened, probably too much caffine and lack of sleep...

    Anywho...

I've seen Colins one and a few others up the field and thats pretty impressive, but never get the chance to see what power trains are running them.

I know Colins has a 2212 motor in, which goes like "I'm Richard Branson", but couldnt see the ESC in it or prop size.

Colin & the gang... if you see this, what ESC is in yours?

I have a 30A JP one doing nothing, should this cover it, and any future motor swap-outs/upgrades?

    6x4 APC?

Flyingwings are hopeless at answering the phone, or emails, took me 25 calls to get an answer to my "Have you posted it yet" as my first order months ago took almost 4 weeks to arrive, and was postmarked a few days before it arrived... I've asked them what their power kits consist of, as they have zero info on what they use, but alas, no reply for weeks..

  15. Hiya Arun

Not wanting to sound biased or anything, but....

    Mid-wing:

    Multiplex Acromaster

    Multiplex Funjet

    Multiplex Funjet ultra

Multiplex Razzor (New model, might not be hitting shops just yet)

Multiplex Easystar 2 (Sort of mid'ish wing)

    Multiplex Cularis

    Multiplex Gemini... (Bi-plane)

Multiplex Space scooter (VERY rare kit)

Multiplex Sonic liner (VERY rare kit)

    High wing:

    Multiplex Mini-mag

    Multiplex Twin Star 2

    Multiplex Funcub

Personally, I found the Art-Tech Alpha jet to be pants... Was slow, really poor build quality with poor components and is REALLY small (Sorry dave, maybe I just got unlucky, but it seemed shoddy to me) Mine belly flopped back to earth after the battery ejected itself mid-air (Right way up), and like the fat kid at the swimming pool, landed with a bang!

Hey, you could always build a FireFly with a 2200kv in-runner 30A ESC, 6x4 prop and run that on a 3S 2300.. Would go like the clappers too..

Other than that mate, I dunno, no idea what you could get

  16. Cheers Arun, oddly enough, it seems to already have a steady throttle curve by default on all models, for every plane... Throttle seems linear on all models, and always has been on my radio :D

I've got it all fixed now, busted rudder servo replaced, fuse sort of straightened out best as possible and glued back together in about 8 places, but had to put a lot of washers into the motor mount to get it out of extreme left thrust..

Upon refitting the canopy, its now about half an inch too long on the front, so the squashed foam factor is now visible when you put the canopy on...

Ready to go now, so will try it again today, only this time, half throttle on take off like Dave advised :-)

  17. Hi Arun

Indeed, Dave reckons it may well be torque roll, which I still cant figure how such a big model with a little motor could manage, but I guess anything is possible...

Hopefully will have it glued back together to try it Sunday... Will bring a black bag with it too, just in case.. :?

  18. Hey guys

Got a big puzzle here with the Multiplex Easyglider Pro...

Set it all up, tested EVERYTHNIG, and it all worked perfectly, tested on full power, all fine, range tested it, perfect again, everything doing exactly as it should, but, soon as it was launched, it wanted to roll heavily to the left.

Full Right stick stopped it from completely tipping over, so I did a left, left, left and landed it...

Tested it all again on the ground, everything working as it should.

This is also not a new build, its a used model, previously flown exactly as-is, same motor/esc/prop etc, I changed nothing at all.

I did set airbrakes in my 10CG, to 1 switch, but that had no affect on its normal operation when tested..

For the life of me, I cant figure out why it rolled to the left so heavily, and it happened again when Leon tried it, only with kamikaze outcome of a busted fuse where it rolled right over and became a lawn dart on the second attempt.

Anybody ever experienced something like this with a glider (1.8m span) as I cant think of, or find anything that caused it to roll so violently, nor could Leon... Both a bit puzzled

I will likely glue it back together and possibly try again, but fear the exact same thing will happen again..

I should add to, it left the hands straight and level, not thrown up at an angle

  19. So is it simply a case of Gravity vs motor power and pitch with Heli's?

I'm still totally new to this heli milarky sparky, so if some guy who can fly better than me said it was due to nuclear sunbursts or UV lighting, or my car stereo was on the wrong station, I'd be wondering if it was true..

It sounds logical enough though, but cant decide if its this mortex vertical thingy or simply gravity vs motor/blade pitch...
