Started over Christmas - a new Bipe

Building a new Jabberwock IV (54 in span) from plan (I already have an old beat up one) anyone interested in the building pictures? Not an awful difficult build, but it is a biplane if anyone is interested in the pics as I complete each part of the build.

Coarse pitch = maximum speed in the air but very slow getting up to speed-poor acceleration, poor braking effect - lower fuel consumption as a benefit. Fine pitch =very fast acceleration and deceleration but low top speed, and higher fuel consumption. It follows that if you choose a prop diameter too small with fine pitch the rpm will exceed the safe limits - probably overheat and seize. If you take the manufacturer's recommendation on prop size/ pitch then for 3D you can choose the next size up from the standard prop but lower the pitch, keeping the rpms in the useful power band for

Me - Had an old Royal one, procured from an old boy I know half completed and a bit warpy on the wings. It was about 20 years old or more. I completed it, fitted 2XOS40LAs and we flew it at Roundshaw last year. Once up it flew very well, (very hairy takeoff -way out of trim) but I got it trimmed out, and did some nice circuits, until I got slow on the turn for a low flyby, (didn't think I was that slow but that was the general consensus) and it tip stalled. Yep, it has the special undercarriage - a bit OTT on price IMO, especially as it doesn't include the retract control valve and air reservoir etc. You get just the metal undercarriage gear and two retract air cylinders for them. The SC52FS seem very good, and I've not had any trouble with those I've got. Have lots of urge, similar to O.S of course just cheaper!

Cheeky! NO it isn't - The one at Avicraft was Aluminum Solarfilm finished with O.S.52FS engines -this one is all my own work and is Solartex finish and different engines. May be a tad heavier, and probably not quite as well finished (I'm impatient) Same kit though so they just look very similar.

Here's my latest build (Topflite gold kit) awaiting maiden flight, engines (2XSC52FS) need some fettling first, and also it's too bloody cold and windy to be outside at my age!

If anyone hasn't been to Avicraft recently, they have received the first batch of Chinese built ARTF Panics. Believe these were arranged for through Perkins as the wholesalers, suppose we will have to call 'em Perkins Panics now - Look very well made, to a high standard, and VERY colourful semi-transparent covering.
