im wondering what to buy for a project to do, ill have a £250 budget in a few weeks and i want eithera kit or an artf. Im currently looking at the black horse piper cub 120 but im asking for everyones opinions on what to get. I dont mind on the style of plane either.

hi all, Needs some help, the covering on my hi-boy has badly loosened to the point of it receeding into the planes fuselage on 1 side and has also a fair amount of badly creased wrinkles. All i have is a normal clothes iron and a hair dryer (that has 2 heat settings). How do i sort the covering out, i want to sort this out before i take the plane for a flight next time its sunny and low wind.

wow, i can only hope to get that good at some point but i suppose itll take alot of trial and error and loads of patience and practice lol

in that case, make a cone out of ordinary paper or card, cut out the exact shape you want in the paper/card and use that as a template, might make ur life abit easier

im all up for that oily, also that way if anyone wanted to try it, they can use my glider if they would like, all i have to do is sort out the hinges before a flight which is gunna be done very shortly (it only has hinge tape atm so im planning on getting the drill and glue type of hinges). Just as an fyi, 1 of the top 10 slopes are in the isle of white (i think) and my glider has a 2.3m wing span although i dont really know what it actually is lol and itll probably be on the 35mhz gear but im hoping to transfer to 2.4ghz soon

if you have a rotary tool such as a dremel, cuting the spinner should be fairly easy and if you dont, go and invest in 1, basic kits only cost £25 from halfords

how do you do an electric conversion on a glider that weighs 3-5 kg`s and is fibreglass

ah ok thanx arun, as an fyi though i was thinking of letter the 6 year old fly once the glider was in the air but gunna let him play with the sim instead for now on lol. sanwa sm-631 servo`s, are they any good as the glider has 2 of them installed for the rudder and elevators.

its fibreglass and weighs alot but can my hi-boy precedant trainer tow it with a 40 engine or will i need a larger plane and bigger engine. or is there a way to attach a towing system to my kabriolin that has a 61 engine. 1 last thing, the glider has 3 channels (aerilons, elevator and rudder) so would it be idea for use as a trainer as i have a friend with a 6 year old boy who i would like to let him have a go of a plane but dont want him to try my nitro planes so thought this would be more ideal and tbh the only reason why i bought a glider

just an update guys, ive started the work and have put the markings in place and have cut the holes in the wing. I have taken pics of the progress so is there anyone i can email them to who can put them on here.

forgot to mention the 2 main principles of flying rc models; 1.) Center of Gravity, make sure that doing this does not affect this and the balance of the plane as if it does, the plane wont fly reliably and if it has affected the CofG, then rebalance this by adding weight where needed. 2.) aerodynamics, this is also very inportant as aerodynamics is the phrase given to how air passes around, over and below the plane to enable flight, make sure that all structural work/changes are smooth and aerodynamic. i have 2 choices with the fuel tanks, i can either mount them in the fuse and relocate the servos or as you said, in the wings. To fit the tanks into wings is fairly simple, Choose ur size of tank, Cut a hole to size of tank, Build a wooden cage around the tank, Epoxy cage into the wing (best placed between wing and fuse). If needed, build a hollow bulbous shape compartment on the underneath of the wing for extra room.

i knows theres multiple threads from me on this, but alot of members seems to be wondering how im going to do this conversion. So ive started this thread to explain exactly how im going to do this and be pre-warned this post is going to be huge! Firstly, the preparation; im gunna mark on the underside of the wing the exact location of the fuselage. Then deciding what size your engines are going to be (im using 40's), find the propeller size and measure the distance from the tip of 1 blade to the centre of the propeller (ill be using an 11" diameter prop), then add 2" to this measurement

your quite right arun, block balsa on its own wouldnt be strong enough to hold an engine, thas why its going to be attached to a normal mounting to act as supports for a balsa panel covering that will surround the engine to act as cowling. if you want, i can go into a more in depth description as to how im going to do this.

i was wondering if the aluminium support beam within the wing would be in the way of the prospective engine mountings. i have already figured out workable strategy to mounting the 2 engines in an appropriate manner using block balsa and normal engine mounts, which will be reinforced using carbon rods within the structure. i was also wondering if they where standard d sections or weight saving d sections
