...and a few more! Must go for me supper!

Here's progress to date. The bulk (?) of the fuselage is completed all 7-1/2 feet of it! It's had two coats of clear varnish over stained woodwork. First pic - the tailpost has been fitted. Second pic - Rigging completed. Third pic - Typical of the dozens of studding fasteners Fourth pic - Undercarriage top spar. All has to be rubbed down and another coat of varnish applied! That's all for now HAPPY NEW YEAR (Apparently I am still only allowed three pictures at a time so have run out of time!)

Here's the next three. I think that that's all that can be said about it, Trevor. If you want more just say so! Regards, Don

Trevor. I promised to post the methods I employ to fix the uprights and cross members of the Bleriot's fuselage. I shall have to post more than one message because the system allows just three pictures per post - so bear with me! No glue is used in the construction. (Refer to the photo numbers, will you, 'cos they come up in a funny order! Maybe the Admin Team can sort this out sometime).

Trevor The wood is Cyparis, available in six foot lengths from Blackburn models. I'll post details of the method when I've finished this morning's work - earning a living, some call it! Thanks for your input! Don

It has a Laser 200V with a 20x8 Graupner propeller. All as recommended by Neil. I hesitate to try any alternatives on the grounds that it flies OK and I can do without any agro whilst the model is in good nick. I'll experiment at a later date - possibly!

Hi, John. Good idea of yours to start a DH82 thread. Just sorry I hadn't noticed it before today! Here's a couple of mine to back you up. Taken by Tony van Geffen at Old Warden and me at Hastings. Regards, Don

I notice that the previous pictures are posted in reverse order so it's going to be difficult to keep it simple!!! Better luck this time....[/u]

Here are some of the build so far.

Here's some pics. of my latest project, a Bleriot from Mick Reeves drawings.

Just thought to keep this thread alive by posting a flying shot of the Pup!

Thanks, Jimbo. How are you getting on with the OS91? Have you run it yet. With regard to running on exhaust gas pressure, I think that this is just a fashion thing! I cannot see the advantage of directing filthy, sludge infected gas back into a system that we strive to maintain in a clean state with fuel filters etc. IMHO I think that if it will not run without pressure, particularly with a pump, it doesn't deserve to be taken from it's box! Maybe it's an age thing. What do you have to say on the subject Mike Sun? (Filth up the pipe Mike, not age!) See you at the BBQ.

I thought you might be interested in the following. Had a great time at Top Gun UK at RAF Barkston Heath this weekend. There were some fifty pilots invited to compete. The contest was planned for two five minute solo slots on the Saturday, one in the morning, one in the afternoon and one for the Sunday morning. The top fifteen would then fly-off in the afternoon for the BMFA Top Gun UK Trophy. There were divisions for WW1 -WW2 - Jets - Aerobatic. The Saturday rounds were flown in sunny but gusty conditions (around 8-10 knots average) and I flew the SE5A to second place with Ian Ren

thanks, Darren. Here's to propellers!

The last few of Pup days can be best described as eventful so I’ll document them in the form of a three-day diary. ------------------------------------------------------- SUNDAY. Maidened the Pup at Hastings yesterday with a large audience. Flew like a pig! Sounded awesome. Was lucky to get it down in one piece. THINGS TO DO BEFORE THE WEEKEND Add some lead up front. It balances level at the designed point and Mick Reeves notes "CG not critical"!? Re-plumb the fuel valves to make them easier to access. Fit a heavy duty Futaba

Well - all was revealed at the Static Scale meeting and if you weren't there that's your loss! The model is now ready to test fly this Sunday which, hopefully, will give me time to iron out any snags before the Old Warden Scale day next weekend. Here's a couple of shots to show the completed Le Rhone with the air ducts fitted and one of the Rotherham pump with it's metal airscrew.

could be. Peter. But there again.......

Very good AVM Jimbo, VD & scar.

that's the nearest yet, Darren

Not telling!!
-
What? Just 16 of them, nonsense!
-
Here's a question for you. Do you know what these are for? There are no prizes offered and Tony van G is not allowed to give the answer 'cos he knows! There are 16 of them - that's a clue! They've yet to be painted satin black and fitted into position. Turn up to the meeting on Thursday for the answer!

Prevented from mowing the grass 'cos it's pishing down so had to get on with the Pup. Here's today's output. I've finished the aileron drive sheaves for the lower wings and have yet to paint the litho plate surrounds PC10. The cross bracing of the centre section is completed but for the security wiring of the turnbuckles. The dummy Le Rhone is finally trimmed to fit and needs the addition of the copper plated air ducts and solid copper spark plug conductors to make it look half way decent.
