Club Members Bravedan 106 Posted January 8, 2016 Club Members Share Posted January 8, 2016 I don't think Fred Hempel could have done it with a Cub................ Been around a while, that video, he's kept his wings on since I understand.

Club Members Bravedan 106 Posted January 9, 2016 Club Members Share Posted January 9, 2016 Nearest I have come is when a Fox powered glider had a velcro strap fail and the battery fall out when inverted at the top of a loop, disconnecting at the bullets and taking the canopy off with it. The ESC must have had serious capacitors (there were two large cans under the heat shrink) as the FASST radio, now without a supply, continued long enough to complete the loop, level out and turn towards a safe landing direction with a couple of corrections before the surfaces finally froze and it landed heavily but without any damage other than a slightly loosened motor mount in the cropped area of the field. I found the canopy, never did find the battery despite two sessions looking. Dab of hot glue on the mount, a better strap fixing, and it was fine Then there was the tape covered red and yellow delta wing plane (own design, pusher prop, 80 watts would have flown it but I had fitted 400 plus). The metal motor mount sheared on a low pass, and the prop twisted round, chopping an elevon and grabbing the colour tape. The red and yellow delta plane, doing close to 100, suddenly changed colour to white as the tape wrapped around the 6x4 speed prop and exposed the foam. Funnily enough, despite that occasion being long before I joined CAMFC, so quite a while back, it's on my workbench being readied for use again now as I'm fed up seeing it lurking on top of a cupboard! This time I have Poly C'd it and it will be painted not taped!!!!
