What's your idea of a good club Night??
stalion456 replied to stalion456's topic in General chitchat
I have an Idea !! tomorrow I will bring a box and some writing paper so that everybody can write without putting their name on that way we can have an honest response. -
One would assume that you would not get the high speed needle wrong!!!
-
Most of my advise comes from experience, some that I have heard on the field, in regards to flying I have been racing nitro cars for 10 years, flying eleicopters for 3 and plane flying 2 months, now I spend around 25 hours at the field per week I fly most days

Hi Just want to get everybody's idea of an ideal club night, what it means to you and what would you change on the current club night , most important what would attract you to come !!
-
I Just looked at your engine on-line and it does not have a low speed idle needle it only has a air bleed screw witch if not set properly can cause the symptoms that you say have a look at the link for the manual. http://www.dieselrc.com/download/osfpseries.pdf look at page 4 it has a chart on how to set it.

the prop will not make that much difference.

Still I think it would be best suited if you have someone with you to start, come on you can not hit someone quile taxiing its not acceptable, what kind of field are you flying at? you might send the plane in the wrong direction when taking off by stalling, but the plane should some what fly more or less ok even with the trim out, you should be able to controll the plane untill a safe high then start to trim it out so that it flyes staright. Even if you stall the plane at taking off you should certainly have enough clearance to not hit any body. That is the basics.

What engine make is it? size? and prop size? do you have any pics?

Well I had a Leo 40 Engine witch I was Using Ok, but one day it started to spatter and would not stay on unless I would put half throttle, either me or Hawk could work out what it was to the extent that I purchased another engine and put that to one side, until one day I read a tread similar to this and the guy said the same thing as me in regards to the low speed needle, I thought it could not be as I had it set perfectly, as I was to find out for some strange reason the needle had moved I don't know if when you open the throttle had something to do with it but fact is that I retuned the engi

No I still play with you that's part of the fun , it might be an air leak but I have had similar problems with my leo engine and I got it sorted trough the low idle needle, regardless of that, we assume that the guy has checked the fuel tubing prior to that it is the essential. You have been at this game longer than me but it does not mean that I am wrong it could be the crank case but usually you would start with the more obvious thing in this case the low speed needle.
-
you two make a nice couple you should get together and discard every rule and do wtf... you feel like that would make it better. The problem is the low idle speed needle, I would start from that, about me flying only a short while has nothing to do with the amount of hours I spend flying and researching I do. number two If I wanted people to know my name I would put it on my log on name, food for thoughts Gary!!.

your low speed idle is out of trim unfortunately either way will give similar results this is how to reset it: screw both high speed and low speed needle in, unscrew the high speed needle between 2 and 3 turns, the low idle needle should be between 0.5 and 1.5 turns out, usually you would start with the high speed needle but in this case start 1/8 at the time with the low speed needle, every time you adjust the low speed needle the high speed needle with change positions so you can adjust this after. Only and always with the low speed needle make small changes no more that 1/8 at the time

here is a picture of it. http://www.championhobby.com/info.php?i ... el%20Valve

you could always try a fuel switch, what it does is you attache one end to the fuel tank to the switch and the other end to the carb, when you fill the fuel trough it it shuts off any fuel getting to the carb, and when you take the filling nozzle out it restores the flow from the tank to the carb, you really want to make a bracket at the fire wall and then make a hole aligned with it in the cowelling, you can buy them from mick charles for about 15 quid plus postage.
-
Try pinching the carb tube while refilling it, that's if you can get to it/or refuel from the carburettor. Flooding is due to the position of the engine and witch way is facing up.

Hi Martin, I currently run all my servos and electronics on 4s 4.8v if I wanted to use life packs would I have to change the servos? the current servos are for a max of 6v, so what I meant is: in order to use life with the current set up that I have in all my planes is there any device/way of bringing the voltage down so that the servos will not suffer? or is a question of changing all the servos to work with a fully charged load of 7.2v from the life packs? because for someone like my self with 10 aircraft set up it would be very expensive to change all servos, maybe any new models could
-
What about voltage/ life are 6.6 v how do you make it work or bring it down to 4.8v?
-
Bull.... you just said that so you don't sound stupid... I don't believe that you go trough all that no way it makes no logical sense !! unless you are one of those that just tries really hard to comment on everything without really knowing what there talking about? or your just one of those whom likes to make his life a living misery with stupid time wasting theories. Witch one is it?
-
why go trough all that bother in fiddling around just buy the right staff, so you don't have to, I don't believe you go trough all that just for a battery I think you just realised that you said a silly think and afters Aruns comment about the Bmfa book you though you would had a comment just so that you are covered. It can be spotted a mile away mate !! not being rude but less B......t.
-
Now that's what I call value for monie.
-
dahha that makes sense how silly was I thanks for that.

Hi Dan, I have a good charger that I purchased at avicraft for 50 quid it does cycles and charges all batteryes, I just wasn't sure on how to discharge them, for example this morning I have tried to cycle my 4.8 2000mha pack, I have set the mha rate at 0.5 and the voltage on 4.8 but when I press the start discharging button it will go off in a few minutes and display dry and then it will go to charging mode, now I know that the battery as 75% capacity still left have a battery checker and also I have charged it yesterday and only had a couple of flights, I must admit I am a bit confused what
-
Thanks Arun, I think 20 quid it,s worth getting a few of the 6v as you said better safe then sorry, I was using 4.8 as this was the basic requirement, so in a nut shell 6v is better than 4.8v.
-
this is what I have found, is this the one you meant? http://www.brentfordrc.co.uk/scripts/pr ... oduct=2001
-
Thanks for the info I think I will give the nicd a miss as it is a spare anyhow and I have been told the same , I have a good charger such the one on the link above detailed, how often should I cycle them? I usually charge them after every day out but I never fully discharge them.
