I have for a while been trying to figure out a quicker method of fixing the centre of the wing to the struts on my Cermark Pitts. The current way of fixing is using 2 x M3 bolts with nylocks to secure the centre ply wing plate to the aluminium cabane struts, and is a little fiddly and slow to assemble in the field. I've come up with an idea, that seems to work, and I'd appreciate any comments from other builders regarding the integrity of the design. I attach some piccies which I think are self explanatory.

So you've bought the fast version of Joe's Tiger shark - this should be fun!

I agree it needs dirtying up - panel lines and some weathering to come after the lettering and before the final coats of fuel proofer. I always put a coat on before weathering, cos then you can just wipe it off it you don't like it. - I use acrylics these days for paint effect cos they're totally inert (go onto anything) and you can wipe it off easily - also you can clean your brushes with water. Watch this space (or come Thursday) to see the finished article.

A couple more pics - done the cockpit canopy, rudder flag, leading edge stripes and white band on the fuselage. Just the lettering now and some panel lines (a biro will do) and I reckon she's ready to crash!

So I missed his head off, but you get the idea. Well you've got to have a pilot haven't you! - Even if it's only a little one. Funny, I quite get into painting my chaps for the cockpits too.... I hate the rest of the painting - too messy...

They look like 15mm copper pipe clips to me....

Well, after the sad demise of my cambrian spitfire last year at the Effingham Fete (it was the 3rd one I'd made and un-made), I felt I just had to make another.... I normally knock planes out quite quickly, but this one has taken me a few months to complete (I did move house, get engaged, get robbed, make 2 ARTFs and a learn to fly my heli in the interim)... Shouldn't be too hard. I'd suggest finding an old cowl or similar, cut out a dome shape, and then trim to match the contours of your cowl around the hole. Finally glass it in place from the inside. As you say, not a problem now, but could be a neat solution in the end.

Looking very nice dazzle. Perhaps you could make some kind of blister up to cover the hole in the cowl?

Coincidentally, I'm looking for something faster for the heli throttle - the governor apparently like a fast throttle, and can even work a digital one! I cant believe I'll have to replace the 148!!!! You can have it for your spitfire

Anyone know anywhere to get steel tubing in the sizes like K&S do in brass? I need something about 2mm ID/3mm OD 6" long, to make some undercarriage parts for my bleriodecker... Thanks
