Well Ive always liked the solid gold piano hinges with titanium pins and diamond and ebony inlay... Failing that, it would depend on the way the aileron hinge is arranged. If its a flat face on the wing and a simple bevel on the leading edge of the aileron, then I would choose a pinned flap type of hinge. If its a curved leading edge on the aileron fitting into a mating concave curve on the wing, then I'd choose to use a Robart type pin hinge. If its a pretty simple model, then the bendy plastic/mylar type hinges (furry or otherwise) are fine also. If you like, bring the pl

Insufficient data for answer... Define 'balsa plane'

I have to say, its lovely to fly - you can potter about at 1/4 throttle for ages doing lazy loops and rolls etc, then when you come to a wall, it just stops and goes into a prop hang - well it does with Leon anyhow. With all install like this, its throttle management that counts, and I'm sure the engine would break the airframe if used unwisely. Leon would never do anything unwise with an airframe though so we are all perfectly safe

I'm paying strict attention to the thread already - but I feel distinctly useless in the face of more such skill! At least I feel better that although Don can build such amazing detail, he cannot post pictures in the correct order Sorry Don about the picture posting Don - Perhaps Paul can look at the system for that cos it does seem daft that its firs in last out so to speak. Keep the pictures coming, and can I have some of your brains when you've finished with them? Ta!

Real shame that Dazzle - just as it was all going so well... Perhaps Joe has something to replace it with? Or did you order something else already?

Well done Trevor - Building from plans is something I've never attempted, and hats off to you on another success... Looks great, flew nicely - a credit to you indeed. J.

Looking good! Ask if you need any advice!

Here's a couple of pics of people from this Sunday J.

I really must make another one....

Did that tube work on the Carb Spiffy? Just wondering how you got on...
-
okeydokey! (I hadn't forgotten - its in my flight box like you said!)

I'd be happy to silver solder a tube on for you if that would suffice! Not sure if thats different or the same as Brasing though

I just got donated a Laser 75 to get our late presidents plabne back in the air Trev. Its over 20 years ols, cos I spoke to Neil at Laser and he says its an early one. I fixed a couple of bits, put it in the plane, primed it flcked it and it started after a couple of goes. Now turns a 13x8 prop and idles perfectly and will start by hand. You wont get that with a 20 year old ASP I can tell ya! Also, Lasers dont need ANY nitro to run!

You cant beat the quality of OS or Saito - or a Laser is you really want to push the boat out. Theres no substitute for quality, and nothing worse than a plane with an engine you dont fully trust. Look at the difference in prices (the OS and Saito are from Inwoods and its a very cheap price, the ASP from Just Engines which are about £30 more expensive than JEngines on the other 2) ASP 91 £125 OS91 £210 Saito91 £214 You get what you pay for!

Thats all looking very nice and neat Trevor! Cant wait to see her flying! Got an estimated end date? Get yourself a nicer engine for it though you know what ASP stands for dontya?

We have so many pilots wanting to fly Jamie and the problem we have been having is that pilots register. As you know, we pre-prepare all the slots around whos registered, and then loads of them dont turn up which really screws with whats been pre-prepared. We are trying to find a way of making it more likely that whoever says they are coming, actually comes.

Nice! is it as kit, or did you scratch build it?
-
Dazzle - I can probably help with some Web maintenance if you need some help.

Well, they'll work I'm sure, just not as actively. If I were you, considering how non-scale it looks and flies anyhow I'd just stick to the given design. I added lines to give the impression of rudder anf flaps etc on my last one but to be honest its a lot of effort for a plane that you will just want to bang about with at max throttle. Well thats what I do anyhow I have in the past even put a real rudder on but its really not necessary... Its your call...

Well, flew the twin today. The OS52 started first go as you;d expect. I had run 3 tanks through them and they were fine all flight. She took off straight away with very little trim needed. She is pretty elevator sensative, so I think the the CofG is too far back - I must admit to not having checked it - its designed for 2 x 46 s strokes, so I figured with 2 x 52 fours strokes mounted a little further forward than designed I would be nose heavy if anything - still, no real drama. Tried to fly the Bobcat, but she just didnt have enough speed. I think that the prop is too big for t
