  1. I left wife with son and family late morning to go slope soaring before coming back up from coast today (excellent windy day, BTW).............they were parked on the beach ( Boring!! ) When she got back home, she said she'd seen this really big camouflaged plane fly from behind very slowly right over their heads while on Rustington Beach out to sea and then towards Brighton............and she's got a pic, albeit distant as her camera was in it's case in her bag. Yup, The one and only flying............Vulcan.....................!!!! Presume it had overflown the Goodwood Fes
  2. Of course, I could be a REAL smart a**e.............. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=1495&hilit=CG+Calculator i.e. I did, but a while before............ Hey Ho.................... And for the record, I'm with Jimbo that as it was over pitch sensitive then probably the CG was too far BACK, then removing nose weight allowing take off but making it worse in flight, then remove more and............... It might well have needed some reflex (both elevons "up" trim). It's NOT simply calculatable science as to whether you need reflex or not, more an art, but you do get a feel for
  3. Damn, Damn, Damn......................Wrong AGAIN........................................ I take it it's totalled then?? I have had a combination of building works on my place reaching a peak plus had a virus this last week culminating in the last two days which have been a bit "uncomfortable". Went Sloping Wed, have not flown since. Anyway, well done you for having a go and not getting somebody else to fly it.
  4. Hi Steve, that looks good! Have you flown it yet? Being the "careful" type with data, maybe an owner that has stuffed it isn't the best source of a CG figure? This calculator works:- http://www.scaleaero.com/CG_Calculator.htm I use 23% MAC for Deltas as a start point..............this has worked with all my own designs
  5. Excellent, and up Snaefell?? Snaefell can be slope soared in EVERY wind direction, but the only time I managed to get up there (on the "Tram") it was low cloud, =i.e. THICK fog!!!
  6. Go and ride the steam train..............
  7. They can leave one, we need a clubhouse......................
  8. Yippee................. Get the gear charged................

    HK 500 GT

I have taken the plunge and ordered one of these from Giant Cod. Adverse comments around on t'internet relating to this model all seem to be old ones which relate mostly to extreme 3D use and the common areas of "concern" seem to have been all addressed in mods to build standard on current issue. We'll see!!! Part of the reason for going to a bigger EP Heli is my travelling gets me near my club sites and with flying time, but transporting starters and fuel is an issue in a car often already loaded up with tools, and while my 450's (inc a HK 450) are great little machines, they ultimately
  10. Does that mean I can't let all my Hell's Angels mates in for free now ??
  11. Fingers crossed, Jimbo............. BTW, It's last Sun in month this week.
  12. They are fibbing, Jimbo, it's more than a foot of snow, 35 mph winds and minus 17 C. When you get back and we all have tans, it'll only be the wind chill that's done it..............

If he's not clingfilmed to the kitchen table, that is................

    YT Spitfire

Neat. Still begs the question as to if you are intent on modelling a specific plane at a specific date in it's life (the plane it's already serial numbered for?) or are being more free in how you develop "your" one? The only Spitfire book I have is the Ian Allen "Special", labelled as "New light on an historic fighter", 1972, my copy from 1977......it claimed at the time to include previously unpublished pictures.......you are quite welcome to borrow it but it's probably too superficial for your purposes.

    CAD's good BTW I assume you have found this:- http://www.spitfiresite.com/reference/v ... erials.htm

    YT Spitfire

Even the "obvious in photos" cannon situation is a jungle, with some having the outer stubs removed, etc, etc. Would "yours" have had the belly Standard Beam Approach aerial?

Nice Jimbo.......... Having just gained a Ripmax Spitfire ARTF for £30, we could get a flight going..................mind you, I'd have to fly twice as near to make it look right!!

    Fournier RF4

Aw, and I was looking forward to the landing..........................

Serious quality!! Very good "real world" feel to the surface finish/scheme. Looks better IMO than the more common red or blue trim on white. That full size plane as you probably well know was involved in a serious incident having an argument with a wall on take off in 2003 in Somerset when the pilot got his distracted by his map being stuck in the landing gear and at the time it was stated as "Beyond Economic Repair", but rebuilt and flying again by 2005. Note no sign of a map in the model..............good thinking! PS, is the little red button on the top of the stick t
  20. BTW, surely that £1600 should be £1599.99, I think you might be pulling one here for personal gain, you don't fool me you know.................
  21. Time for my five penn'orth..................? 1. Jimbo, even IF you HAVE got a big head, that only means your eyes are further apart and so your depth perception is better......making you potentially a much better pilot.........they must be jealous................ 2. I only hope H9 have improved their filming process for this one, from experience they seem to have little or no adhesion film to film and so separate at the edges far too easily.....(everything else seems good)....if you buy, I suggest you make sure you immediately seal all edges with hardener activated type fuel proofe
  22. Very Nice!!! I have trouble with the Phoenix Simulator Spit nosing over, I'm never 100%..........!!! Suppose you all know about:- http://www.polishsquadronsremembered.co ... adron.html Slightly off topic, but recent British National Party literature banging on about Britain for the British used the "Spitfire" card to try to drum up nationalism, unfortunately they used a picture of a Polish Squadron plane, complete with chequer board marking. OOPS!!
  23. Cheers, Leon, you must have got there about the same time a guy posted a pic elsewhere of a DV-II Carb, stating Thunder Tiger, obviously a smaller engine as smaller bore. Current TT engines have a different Carb body shape with angled back needle. So far the various TT and TT dealer websites have not helped identify it more positively..........I'm still trying.
  24. Then try to identify the maker and engine type/size normally fitted to of this part Carb please, your starter for Ten...................... http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php/22727/Carb.jpg and No, I don't know the answer.................
  25. A long time passes since last post in this thread, but didn't want to start another.............. Still got yours, Steve??? Flew mine today...........my first I.C. powered plane since 1978!! White ARTF, graphics as links below:- http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php ... c3_Web.jpg http://www.atomic-album.com/showPic.php ... c2_Web.jpg SC 91 Two Stroke. Capable of vertical while on the edge of four stroking on a bit more than half throttle. Hopefully with two good flights today on top of three ground runs following SC's full throttle and back off run in procedur
