  1. Fully realise that for this plane this is stable door, horse, bolted, but every year a large number of planes are lost to the downwind turn over application of 3D surfaces while flying slowly. While nobody can mitigate the ultimate effect, you can "train yourself" out of reaching the onset of the problem with something much less expensive and fragile. I tend to fly planes set up very nervously, as many know. As one example, my Combat Fire-Fly has a combination of elevon movement that gets the surfaces to nearly 90 degrees. This is wanted, as while Deltas are traditionally difficult to
  2. Today..............Post Flight........ Oh Yes, forgot, I added a Spinner.............
  3. With decent conditions, sunny, mild, a light easterly breeze, and the patch finally short enough to trust the low spats, YES!! The Laser started first time and sat there idling. I hate these unreliable engines!!! Let it run almost the full length of the patch before squeezing it gently off scale style and climbing out like a real plane into square scale circuits. Couple of clicks of up elevator after a couple of circuits getting the feel had it trimmed out well. After years on totally overpowered and over surfaced funfly/sports types, it's a nice change to have to work the p
  4. Complement the Wot4 (limited variety then) or contrast it???? Art Tech Alpha Jet takes that cell size and IS variety!!
  5. Hopefully the new website will be more flexible, though to be fair many websites have similar requirements, which is why I always use an external picture server. Yes, those pis work OK, looks good!!
  6. That link seems to require an account so I cannot access your pic. Re: the wheel pants, the plane will not look like a real one without! I am waiting to maiden (with me, it's an old model) a spatted scale appearance plane. Last year, before the cutting issues were resolved, I had to abort flying another spatted plane several times, in fact it wasted boot space to'ing and fro'ing quite a number of times in hope it could be flown. From mid year on however, with the grass cutting being done properly, it was no issue, and does make the appearance of the plane. Given a reasonably cut

Holding a tyre together with a cable tie, Eh? .................did you used to work for KwikFit??
  9. Free to Play as far as the Island of Hawaii, that is..................
  10. The rotor disc issue also affects planes......... Take a plane with an all black blade, as it starts to rotate it suddenly gains large white tips and a multi coloured disc. Also there's an issue with planes sinking their u/c below the ground. Left one sitting on runway for ten mins, found it sunk halfway up the legs..............(it's not THAT heavy surely, but might be prototypical for CAMFC patch currently!! ) Have had two crashes while testing this morning, one an untrapped full lock up requiring the off switch. For those not used to Phoenix, you can ONLY Multiplay w
  11. Have received a test main .exe file from them to catch and save extra data to a diagnostic file any crash info (Yes, it's crashing XP as well!!) Have gone completely through the process again, to same effect, will not generate 3D landscapes (as distinct from the usual cubic panorama). And for the record, in case you are not aware, it's not really practical to revert versions once updated.
  12. OK, just loaded v4.0b (download file) and then in sim updates through c to d. Loaded latest drivers for G Card............ Won't run 3D landscape generation and heli rotor discs are rubbish with bad moire patterning.. Emailed Support with Diag file and pics............. Suggest you don't bother yet !!!!
  13. OK, caught up........................ http://supercubclub.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=pb&action=display&thread=3492
  14. Think the review was the Seagull one imported by J Perkins?? Who or what is "VQ single seater", I have no idea and Google doesn't either! Would the choice have anything to do with the colours??

Never used it in an aeromodelling sphere, but years ago used to use liquid mask quite a bit, sometimes in combination with tape and films. Usually worked very well. Little or no experience of Solartex, would have thought the pronounced weave would be a devil to mask cleanly, but people do. I think on painted shapes of your size I'd have done it signwriter style, pencil drawn edging mark and hand painted with long hair brushes. I have done (relatively) small bits of lining on buses that way, with heavily sculptured corners..........last time was when one of our trainees was faced on a

Looking fine to me.......... Have you seen period pictures as to how badly/roughly (and of course lightly, as weight was a killer!) the real things were frequently painted? You might have a prototypical finish if you make it worse!! Concours was never in their minds!! The other day I came across my computer file of WW2 Hurricane pics. Some of the Russian ones had five point stars where not a single point was actually at the right angle or length, and the numbering could be better done by my four year old grandson.....and as for the seven or eight different shaded patched camo..
  17. Nope, and while the weather is poor and the patch relatively rough due the worm casts, probably not about to! It's now the longest gap between finishing a plane and it's first flight with me by a long way!!
  18. I have belatedly (and therefore stupidly!) realised that I may have experienced what I'm now reminded has been the bane of some people with the TRex 500......static generated from the tail belt...................not something I'd had an issues with before over several years so had got forgotten. Just read someone's post and they had 2.4GHz lockouts caused by it, and basically that's what happened, lifted off, and lost control with tail drift Thinking about it, it was the ideal weather conditions for it. SIGH...................
  19. Sorry, have not tested "5", might well be better, might even actually be missing out, but having tested a wide range (most) of the Sims over the years inc Aerofly in earlier incarnations, and owning currently four RC Sims, THE most consistently effective AND cost effective product is still Phoenix IMO. "5" is notionally £119 for the UPGRADE? I notice that places are selling (dumping?) Pro for £60 or less (£140 plus normally). Measure that against Phoenix WITH a DX5e Transmitter for £117 (Amazon, current) or £125 (Al's), or around £80 sans Tx (with free updates and extras ongoing suc
