  1. Just back from Karting! While there seem a lot on the list, quite a few are for RealFlight only, no Phoenix version (yet?). I only did one as a trial, but will probably do the others when I get time, I'll report then
  2. Currently I have over 100 sceneries for Phoenix. Many I have made from existing panoramas, some from Open Source/Commons stuff but sometimes from other Sims freeware scenery (just for my own use). A lot of the sceneries, even some "official" ones, are not very good for online use. Some only have one start position which is a killer for multi operation online. This one seems very good, well above average, lighting is very very good, lots of options for wind directions:- But I have yet to test the start positions. Pegaso in Mexico. It's payware but only $3 @ PayPal so prett

Did microlites in the early days before it was PPL4 or whatever............then you just pointed it at the hedge and hoped it would clear it. My son's first flight EVER was in a microlite, a parallel wing american made thing with a "proper" tail....it rained.........
  4. I'm travelling tonight (Monday) , and School Karting tomorrow evening.................

    Online Names

Would people please indicate here what username they use or will use online for Phoenix, and try to make that name consistent across all sessions? I'm Bravedan as per user name on this forum. I won't list names I know have been used in case people wish to change.
  6. Nothing like a good bit of wanton destruction to up the ante on skills!! (especially as no repairs afterwards!)
  7. CAMFC and gate, online to 21:30
  8. No Worries, I'll mod the flying sites to have machine gun emplacements in case one of those sneaky enough gets into the Forum and finds the password info. Here you go:- HOWEVER, I'm confused...............If the fault preventing our entry was lack of permission "names list" attached to the section entry routine, now resolved, isn't the section Member ONLY because of those permissions????
  9. Got the perfect one, the "Dart", dating back to FF days only, is available as a rubber power plan from the BMFA for kids to make in their education section, quick build and will fly exceptionally well even if built horribly skewed (not suggesting, BTW!! ) and easily trimmed to fly circles, etc. You lay the plan face down and stick the supplied balsa sticks to it direct, then cut out round the sticks. http://www.bmfa.org/education/kits.html It's been done with micro gear as RC.

    Vintage radio.

As I have discussed with you, I have all my old Futaba "M" series from 1971-6, but while I'm happy to use it in cars, there is NO way I'd fly with it any longer.
  11. Well it could be I guess, but with the engine powered Helis showing no similar issues, yet subject to the same temps both in storage (unheated garage) and use, it highlights on the HK500 and I'm wondering of there is anything on the chassis that is temp sensitive. I give them stabilisation time before flying. Countering the gyro being the cause, the older one went all through last winter with no issues. Anyway, the older all plastic fittings 500 is def no more, too much damage to worry about repair. The metal/carbon one is repairable, the tail end drive requires complete replacem
  12. Both on genuine 401s.
  13. So, last Saturday there was little or no wind, so I thought I'd give the 500's an outdoors session rather than the 50's. First flight, using the newer carbon one, lifted off, hovered, started to slowly move into forward flight, when it ever so slowly but uncontrollably pirouetted near 180 degrees and then smacked violently in tail first. Oh Bother says I........... Didn't fly the older one, flew a 50 and a few light wind preferred EP planes (well, quite a few planes!!), no issues after that. Not able to tell what caused the piro crash. Today, took the older 500 and a 30, plus

Off topic, your garage door looks vulnerable to an easy forced entry, at least from the limited pic. (I experienced this two years ago on my coastal place, as did twenty plus others in one day alone) If you want to know more, and probably how to make if difficult enough to make them give up, contact me.
  15. The paint finished surfaces are not matte are they, they are usually that awkward to copy the exact sheen of "satin"? In most cases its the aerosol propellent that attacks Depron, so brushed is less risky if you can keep to a minimum layer, but it is an issue. Johnson Floor Polish is often recommended, as is the water based floor finishing that B&Q sell, probably the same stuff without the label. I have used Johnsons successfully, but test test test on scrap. Do any of the decals go across joins where bare Depron might be encountered with seepage, if so be especially wary. I hav
  16. Great, Combat!.....I'll warm up the FireFly....................
  17. Sorry Darren, but Hot Glue near Alpha's moulded Depron is a wee bit risky!!
  18. Where will it be relative to the airflow (which I assume has a enclosing tapering duct from Fan to outlet hole). I'd try to get it under a form of suspension. The wiring is OK to assist with that but obviously keep any tension off the connections. Nest it in a tripod of balsa strip? As you probably well know, 2.4 Rx's should not be foam encased, they need air for cooling. Twin aerials? At 90 degrees? Away from wiring, carbon/wire rodding? (as well as away from ESC and Motor). In my Alpha Jet I placed the Rx at the very rear under the duct. I used extensions to get there.

You are going to have to speed up to get it done by Thurs night..................
  20. PS, that's the wrong camo for that rug...................
  21. You presumably have run it up, does it sound smooth or not ? While you'd think, probably rightly, that balancing the fan would help at the high revs an EDF runs at, the difficulty is how to tell what and where it needs it, and how to do it without adding say drag and ending up worse off. I have only had four EDF, have not balanced any of them, and if I have lost out as a result, it's not evident to me where, however, have a look here:- Neat and relatively easy. The consensus seems to be to use either CA or Silicone as the "weight", doing it a little at a time. People see
  22. For the record, in case anyone else needs, the very small Dubro EZ Connectors are these:- http://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/shopexd.asp?id=4936 (They also do a larger type) The GWS ones are bigger and can cope with bigger wire, the pack number being GWPHD002
  23. Re: the magnets, have never held a Fus together that way.............and not sure I would, but neoidium magnets are so strong that the depron will tear before they part unless something is slid in between carefully, so what Rob says should work...........depends on the type of magnet!!
  24. My usual method is to "Z" bend the surface horn end. At the servo end I use the aluminium micro rotating ones where you push the wire through to the right adjustment and then screw fix it, and it's held to the servo arm by a grmmet or a screw. Dubro sell VERY small ones, GWS ones are larger. I have both here if you need quickly, I'm ten mins from you...........ring me?
  25. From what I know about Alpha model construction materials, a Bungee made from more than one dropped P.O. band would rip it apart. Jimbo, doubt you'll have any really major issues in flying it. The range were all heavily promoted and reviewed a while back and a lot of relatively inexperienced over ambitious parkflyers bought - most of those have trouble launching a Parkzone Radian let alone an EDF!! My favourite EDF story - Guy turns up in Norman Park with a home made EDF. It's a FW Slipstream chevron wing, a highly respected and well sorted product that unpowered is often used
