The thread I started over on RCMF to push the show has some good feedback on it and I've added some pics as well. Have a look at http://www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/topic,29596.0.html

Jimbo, still posting - haven't you got something better to be doing?

Good colour scheme Panics are meant to be a bit lary

Guys, I've posted an update about the show on the RCMF forum, can you do me a favour and visit it and post comments etc to help keep it at the top. A bit underhand I know but anything to get the coverage. Go to http://www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/board,68.0.html Thanks

You'll enjoy the panic, you can fly it like a trainer or a complete hooligan. Look forward to seeing at the field.

I'll have a look at the manual that came with my 68" glens cap tonight, that should give you a reasonable start point.

My only concern with this type of light electic flight models is the undercarraige mounts. Whilst our strip is good, it's not a bowling green and I think you'll find the U/C rips out on anything less than a perfect landing. If you strngthen it you add weight and that will probably spoil the handling. But if I had to choose, it would be the sukhoi for me

In reality the 24v battery wasn't much bigger than a large car battery and I'm sure a couple of range rovers would be up to the job but ....... Where would you get jump leads that can take 800A and where in some middle east back water would you find a pair of range rovers

2287, 2335 and 2298mAh on the next cycles so I expect this is the best I'll get. I use a pair of Supernova charger/dischargers and they take packs down to 0.9v/cell and I use a pair of modified meter leads with pins on the end to probe through heatshrink to check individual cell voltage/reversed cells. Increased handling and potential for broken down/reversed cells was one reason we didn't progress very far when doing a battery eval for full size jets - we were considering some new 24v NiCd's to replace the old lead acid. Problem was the voltage standing up when we hit them for 800A

I always cycle batteries, especially if they're in a model not flown for a while or one that often gets a quick charge before a days flying. I wonder how many of you do likewise. Is it important I hear you ask? Have a look at my TX pack performance below and see what you think. The battery in my TX is a 2500mAh Ni-Mh pack and I should get loads of time out of it but it seems to be going flat quite quickly. I decided to use my fast charger to cycle it, according to Overlander these cells can be charged at 2.5A and discharged at 10A. I've seen in the past that 'exercising' packs b

Yes it's the 6mm wing and next time I'll leave the UC in the box. I think it'll handle reasonable summer winds OK, it's my 'take it on holiday' plane and I think it's perfect for that.

No deal for me, I just bought the shocky and their motor/esc as I already had rx, micro servos etc. I'm using FlightPower 3s1p 800's and the standard shock prop - the orange one it's probably 8x3 or similar. Takes off vertical out your hand at about 3/4 throttle, prop hangs at about half throttle (if I was any good ) The undercarriage is a bit of a weak spot unless you fly and land on very smooth runway or can land at zero forward speed. Managed to rip it out and seriously weakened fuse on mine as the u/c leg caught in a minor divot on landing. Going to repair with some carbon

Well that was hard work Never had to set up mechanical retracts before, trying to get the linkage just right seems to have taken more time than the rest of the buiild so far. Anyway, with the gear locked up the legs are still proud of the wing, so I'm going to wedge the inboard retract mounting screws which should give me two benefits. The wheels should retract further into the wings and I'll get that slightly splayed leg position when the wheels are down. I've started on the wing fairing and next is to cut out the ailerons and fit all the control runs. Fitting engine and cowl

Yes I know it's about time, been seduced by a petrol cap, a shock flyer and a micro heli, but now I'm back. Wing has been joined, pre-marked sections for servos, retracts etc cut out and cowl trimed to fit wing/wing seat. Hopefully I'll get time to do some more over the next week or so.

Yep I get all my petrol engines and parts from Just Engines - wouldn't use anyone else. I've ultimately decided to use the os52 I already have but it's always interesting to get feedback on alternatives.

Oh jesus Don, just goes to show it can happen to anyone. Glad it doesn't sound too bad and I'm sure Roger or Peter will lend a hand (sorry ) at Old Warden.

Managed to break the canopy where it attaches to the frame mount, probably the weakest part. Fortunately it only broke half way across so the application of some carbon tows and cyno on the inside looks like to have saved the day. Training undercarraige sorted, couple of 4mm carbon tubes and some table tennis balls were all that was needed. Shouldn't really need it but as it's been 18 months since I last flew a heli I thought it better to be safe. I'm getting about 9 mins out of the 1800 3s1p Flightpower lipos of hovering and 'walking the dog' and that's with a head speed of about 22

Looks good Don, be nice to see it fly soon.
-
It flies Yep, you might have guess I'm rather happy. OK it was only a cople of tentative hops in the garden and it's quite sensitive but it as off the ground. Need to sort out the training undercarriage and bring it to the field for some proper trimming and perhaps a test flight from one of our better pilots. Hopefully this means I'll get more stick tim ein now
-
Show off I'll bring the camera

Sunday's looking good

dunno Doesn't IFO stand for Indoor Flying Object? Then I guess it's best with the shockys, but you could always just put it under electric
-
Yep, V2. Stainless tail rotor, blue gears etc. However, I\ve not seen a V1 or the XL in the flesh so I can't really comment on the differences. I've made up a lightweight training undercarriage and am tyrying to get some tim ein on the sim as its been at last 18 months since I last flew rotary

I was going to do a two colour paint job on the canopy, but after spraying the first, I quite liked the feather edge, fade to white look. Plus it saved me an awful lot of masking Charlotte commented that I had a Daddy, Mummy and Baby helicopter, so here are a few more of the 'family'. Can you see who's the daddy ? I guess there really is no excuse now, if the weather remains good I hope to try and get it in the air later in the week.
