I believe it was 1978. Mike Sun was a founding member, perhaps he can remember.

By the time I got to the traders they were packing up

I have one of the original club badges in 'mint' condition and feel that we should use that. The Croydon Tower image at the top of the forum is the main part of the badge and as we are the Croydon Airport club then it's surely the most appropriate. It's an ey from me too BTW.

Gerard, We usually do a show cd with pics and video, if I can have a disc with your pics I'm sure I'll use some. Thanks

We won't have final figures for a while but the HF estimated 3200+ on Saturday and 5000+ on Sunday Unless that is wildly optimistic, it's the biggest number so far.

Dennis was still due to display at the weekend despite his little incident in Utah. I think his comments about retirement after the crash was a bit of a knee jerk reaction - not surprising really as he'd just walked out of the wreckage. He took part in the european championship only last month and came 4th. The reason for his no show was that metal pieces were found in the oil at the 50hr checks on the display heli two weeks before the show and he felt there would be time to get it sorted. He sadly had to call it off on Friday evening before the show, hence the reason for no re

Guys, Some interesting stats. Since beginning of June we've had nearly 9,000 visits to the show website They've looked at 55,000 different pages Since the beginning of the year it's been over 17,000 visits and 127,000 pages. Strangely, Thursday seems to be the most popular day 3p, 4pm and 5pm are the most popular time for a visit - shouldn't these people be working We've had visit from loads of different places amongst them 7 from Hungary, 2 Lithuania and 1 from South Korea There are a number of people who have a link to us from their website, the one that's sent us th

.... cause I wanted to vote for the Showtime

Looks like your poll is a bit biased

Crickey, need to get those petrol motors back into service. Alternatively, go electric
-
Obviously can't handle the awesome power How bad - 10 sec with some cyno or bin bag
-
Jimbo's gone electric, quick call out the authorities Looks pretty, been tempted myself but since we're trying to move and I'm supposed to by downsizing my fleet I can't really justify it at the minute. The other 3 new planes I've just bought are also a factor I've commissioned a certain Mr Pendry to finish the build of my Xtra-Wot so hopefully that'll be up and running during the summer.

Now you really are having a senior moment - it's Spiffy that is Jim's new neighbour

apologies for pitching I so late, but a bit like jimbo, I can't be doing with different fuels and use Southern Modelcraft 10% hi-lube (fully synthetic) in everything. It's about £10/gallon but only at shows unless you want to go to Tonbridge to collect some.

I'm big enough to take this .... OS 70 FS Ultimate Laser 100

The final design for the show flyer has been agreed and is going to print. There will be the usual A5 double sided flyers as well as a number of A3 and A1 posters. Here is a PDF of the flyer, please do your bit to download, link to and generally promote this thread. Southern Model Airshow 2008.pdf

Mad ba***rds Looks like you had more fun than I did, freezing my butt off clearing out the garage and building a snowman

Yes please. Always keen to see the build of your aircraft despite depressing me that I don't seem to get the time to build a Wot4 in less than a year!

BREAKING NEWS 2008 SHOW!!!!!!!!!!!!
Darren replied to Peter Royall's topic in Southern Model Airshow
The publicity machine cranks into action, I've just posted over on RCMF. More to do soon but I'm going to wait until we've got a few final points clarified before hitting the other forums and mag press releases etc. But, please spread the word http://www.rcmf.co.uk/4um/index.php/topic,47448.0.html -
Oh no I won't - not at least for a while With a potential house move this year I needed to clear some stuff out the garage anyway
