But I was referring to the endless list of things I cannot do!!! You've seen me prop hang!!!!
-
Steve, that list is endless let me tell ya
-
Huh? Errr... Yeah - prolly.... (What???) I'll do whatever I'm told within reason!

Ive got some starting data for the cannons and Aerial mast of the interweb (Id still like the real thing though Mickey!) Ive had some time on my hands over night shift here in China so thought I'd try doing some 3D CAD. I'm quite pleased with the results - what dya think?? hispano 2007-Layout1.pdf
-
Cheers Mickey - Sadly I'm away on business again so wont be able to bring the model to the AGM as I wanted, but you'll see it soon enough! I didnt get back to returning your call sorry mate! I was after some scale drawings or the Hispano cannon covers, general gun positions and the aerial mast. Were you saying you had any of that? Jimbo

Quite a bit of work done, but not much progress to show for it. Engine finally mounted, and throttle and choke linkages are in so thats good. The cowl has had the exhausts fitted and I'm pleased with them. Ive done some hacking around in the cockpit area to move a factory fitted fuselage former out of the way and into the scale position, and Ive made a seat for the pilot. Also bought a nice pilot from eBay which needs lightening a little from its normal 245g. Here's some pictures for you.

2nd, 3rd, 9th thoughts.... Oh I'm in such a quandary! Still it'll be nice when I decide what to do....

Thats good info to have Andre, thanks. The MVVS with ignition weighs 1118g, so just a litte bit more. I think that a lot of the weight will be forward too, as its a front carb engine. I wont worry too much about forward weight. I can always space the engine forward if needs be. Your 16oz equates to another 450g - perhaps I should mount the engine up front anyway....
-
Andre - the engine is mounted OK, but for the picture, the spinner was just balanced on what was left of the Crankshaft. Because I'm using a 26cc petrol motor, I want to mount is as far back as possible. Because of this I need an extenstion for the prop driver which Peter Shaw is kindly making for me. As such, there is only about 10mm if crankshaft sticking past the cowl right now, hence the droopy looking nose. Well spotted though! Trevor - the finish on the spit is amazingly good, being airbrushed all over. But, it just doesn't look right. It's going to get a really good dirtyin

Some time ago I was lucky enough to buy a 120 size YT International Spitfire from club member Darren. Well Ive done some work on it recently, and I thought I'd post a couple of pictures as it goes, so here's the first one for you. I'm quite excited by this model

Richard, There is another way they can be used which will probably fulfill your needs: If you run the filler pipe to the connection that would normally go to the tank, and block off the connection that would normally go to the carb, then you can use the valve simply for filling and draining. The way to block the unused connection is simply to put a piece of pipe on it, with a stopper in the end. I have done this before, and it adds nothing into the carb line to get in the way of smooth operation. Maybe this will help you? Jim

That is what this is Richard. Gerard has explained it pretty well. The round part connects between the fuel tank and the carburettor. When you put the nozzle in from your flight box, it dissconnects the route to the carb, and the fuelling nozzle is now connected to the fuel tank instead. These fuellers do work well when new, but in my experience must be kept clean. They can start to leak or get stuck open once the o-ring is a little worn, which lets air into the carb leading to bad running. I can bring one for you to look at Tuesday it you wish. Jim

You probably could use these, but I probably wouldnt bother.. First of all, the internal bore of out fuel tube is typicall 3-4mm, so it'd be a push to get it on. Secondly, I've tried many different fuel gadgets over my years of modelling, and what Ive decided is this. The more there is in between the fuel tank and carb, the less reliable your motor runs. These days, I have a piece of tube, and thats it. I use a fuel filter sometimes, but more often than not, I put a filter in the filling line, so the fuel is filtered before it gets into the tank. Having said all that, if you w

Peter On you extension, what did you do in reation to the extension ubutting the knurling on the popr driver? The driver on my engine has some trianglur ridges machine in lines straight acros the face of the driver. Im worried that if I fit a steel or Ali spacer wither the driver will be crushed to an extent, or the spacer will spin on the ridges. Di you make a sleeved nut like Neil supplies? Jim

Hi there both. Sorry for the delay in replying but Ive been out of the country as you may know. Well I need a 30mm dia piece of Ali bar (the diameter is not really importamnt but around 30mm), 14mm in length, with a 10mm hole in it. The Bevan boys are very kindly making me one out of PTFE which I think will do the job. Its to space a propellor further down the cranckshaft Peter. PTFE was suggested to conform to the knurling on the prop driver and back of the spinner plate. Thanks both for your offers - much appreciated. Lets see what the brothers grim have come up with
-
Hmm - If I was to get some bar, could I turn up and turn up? Having said that, its not going to happen until after the hop farm now... theres really no hurry
-
Is it all set up and do you have some 30mm Ali bar stock Chris?
-
Got it in one Dazzle - I think the MVVS will fit in with not too much showing, but I'll get it as good as possible. Oh I need room for a lathe!!!
-
Anybody got a lathe out there who can turn me up a bit of Aluminium? I need a bit of Ali Bar, about 30mm Dia but that's not crucial, with a 10mm hole drilled through it, parted off to 14mm long. Thats it...
-
wipe it off well with meths and then wait for that to dry. Then try sticking to it.

They do look nice! I used an old bra strap for my Sutton harnesses... Perhaps its time to move on Oh, and I used fibre plumbing washers for my instrument bezels!
