  1. Its fixed... I had to put a bit of weight at the back to balance it out correctly. I used long M4 bolts. If you carefully look at the front, you can see some fishing wire that I have stretched from the undercarriage and cowl to provide a flying wire that strengthens it. For the M4 bolts, they are actually from a light switch, and I had to smash apart the switch to get the nuts!!!!!!! All I have to do is be careful when I pick it up and change battery as I don't want to snag the flying wires. See you all soon, tmow looks a bit windy for "fun" flying, so i'm going to clean the garage.
  2. Thanks Trevor. I have looked at it again and it seems strong enough, but is not very pretty, but you cant see it anyway. When it rips out again I will do the mod, because if it ain't broke don't fix it! The problem of repair is caused by the fact that Gerard and I dry fitted the plate back in place, and it fitted well, but when I put glue it didn't, and I didn't want to rip it out, so I left it. It is flush with the fus, but is 0.5/1cm forward, so the batt hatch is cut a bit and a balsa plate put on top so the clip is tight. Besides, after seeing Emays, I feel like mines a museum piece!
  3. I recently took the undercarriage off my wot with a gentle pancake landing (ask Gerard). I have hot glued it back and it is ok. Can anyone tell me what I can do to strengthen it up when I take it off next? B
  4. I tried flying my hubsan X4 in the garden in 50-60mph winds..... has anyone got a long stick for reaching an X4 on top of the garage??? (only joking). See you all soon, not this sunday as we are in spain (20 degrees!!!!!!). I was going to take a little 3d shock flyer, but after reading airline lipo rules, I left it. i'll tell you how many blown away planes I see on the way. B
  5. That's fantastic. I didn't know you could get full size plans.....(light bulb)
  6. My new Tek Sumo. Turningy NTM prop drive 28-26 1500kv giving 800g of trust. Two HXT900 9g servos. A HEXFETA 25amp ESC. VR-II 4 channel FRSKY rx. Hobbyking recommend a 1000mah 3s, but I put the same 2200mah I use in my wot 4 foamie. All ready to go. It's not too loud, so I will see if I can have one flight HIGH up. IT shouldn't make too much at 150ft??? Stay High (you know what I aeronautically mean, and not....) B
  7. They were futaba, and I wasn't that heavy handed, I always pull the plastic clip and not the wire.......
  8. No, no you misunderstand. I use lead locks, but the wire had pulled out of the lead connector. I have now hot glued all my extension, which work a treat.
  9. I made a bottom cowl out of balsa, so the u/c is only 1inch form the nose. Battery hatch is epoxied and 1,5mm ply + 6mm balsa strengthened. B
  10. Don't just plug them in, as I was flying my wot foamie, and when I was doing a FINAL check before the wing went on, I saw the extension lead plug had pulled out of the plastic socket. BEWARE!!! Also, don't just waggle sticks, hold the control surface when you move it, as I held it, and the servo moved and the surface didn't. The quick link was loose. The plane had been brought home, and hung up until that day. I had touched NOTHING, yet 2 faults were present. Spend an extra minute, save a plane and a 2 week rebuild!!!!!!!
  11. Presenting my multitude of projects. Cougar, Expression and tek sumo. Plus my new workshop. Expression engine mounted, tank plumbed, servos mounted. All in need to do is re-cover the tail and get a rx.
  12. Its not positive, but its not negative. I's up to us to spread the good word about them. B
  13. Just ordered my second Tek sumo flying wing. The airframe is £27, so you cant really go wrong. You can have a docile setup, or a 60-70mph setup. I personally went for the rocket setup, but since my last one weighed nearly twice the recommend weight, and was hard to land in wind because it glided so far, I think weight isn't a problem, and who says I need to use full power all the time? Hobbyking say a 1000mah 3s, which I obeyed, but it needed 120g nose weight, which is silly for a 300g plane. I am now using a 2200ma, so I have useful weight. People say to put the electronics on top, and cut t
  14. Fuselage is now done, horizontal stabiliser is on, engine needs to be mounted, fuel tank in. The vertical stabiliser is the problem as the rudder has come off (no biggie),and the section that the rudder attaches to and goes into the fuselage has no carbon spar as it shattered, has anyone got any ideas? The wing is a pain but it is coming on well. Meanwhile the expression needs to be plumbed and the r/c bits put in. I have also just had to order a new wing after the esc went alight and melted the rear. I was putting a slightly bigger prop on. The motor and airframe has had it, but the servos, b
  15. Everyone must have wrecked an ultra micro? I certainly wrecked a few! If they have, keep the bits................ B
  16. Hiya guys, Was checking out R/C on youtube an found this. They look to be the perfect thing we could do at club night in the summer, as in R/C egg and spoon race? He who flies longest per one battery wins, any touches in the ground and you are out? How about it? B:)
  17. Oh yeah! That's fantastic. Now to try it with a camera mounted on a servo!!! B
  18. Looking on HK and saw this http://www.hobbyking.co.uk/hobbyking/store/__57198__HobbyKing_174_Discovery_Buzzer_UK_Warehouse_.html handy for the woods..... B
  19. Pilot Ben

    Is it a bird?

HK do a ornithopter version. That is even more realistic B
  20. I hear you. I'll show you how it works, Pete. I haven't even maidened the wot yet, so it won't be for a few weeks yet. I will report back on the test results in a few weeks.... Keep flying, B
  21. Fair point. Then again, if all the committee members do donut drop, it must be OK! B
  22. Hi everyone, Looking on HK today and saw a bomb drop. It was eight quid, so I decided to make my own. Mine drops anything from fuel tanks, to tangerines, to donuts, to parachute men. It tapes on to the bottom of my foam - e. You will need the following: A 9g servo ( or thereabouts - not too big! ) A rubber band A ring of fuel tubing A smallish screw that goes through the servo arm Cyano Scrap balsa A bomb Optional - glass fiber tape Mount your servo with cyano on the rectangle of balsa so that the arm can move 180. Put a screw through the arm and sli
  23. likewise, a park flyer ( the mustang YOU maiden for me! ), doing a loop, battery comes out, plane goes in..... bit are good, so in the flying wing they go!
  24. i put them on, then cut away the bit that went over the hinge. it looks good, and is bind free.
