On Sunday we ran 119 journeys using 4 buses at once from a pool of 16, with another 25 on static display. Buses from 2012 back to 1914 (one of ours). Where else can you consecutively ride a less than 1000 mile on its odo shiny new 80 seat bus, then a 1978, then a 1961, then a 1957, then a 1930, then a 48 seat 1914? I did the longest stint with 1205 above as we had one scheduled bus not turn up and one of ours developed Magneto trouble beyond an in service fix mid day. (which will be my job next Mon!) The average time between services was 3 min 24 seconds, with the longest gap in serv

I was driving a full loaded 5.4 litre 4 Cyl petrol 1930 bus around tight corners requiring full lock each way and constant double de-clutch changes. For more than four hours. And 6 others briefly, getting them out and parking them up at the end. The cab "firewall" (complete with original 1/4" gaps all round the panels) got so hot you were burned instantly if you touched it. Helpfully the bare metal Mag cutout is on one panel. This was on a road system down in a chalk pit out of any wind, and cab temperatures got over 40 C. It is only possible to turn the steering wheel using BOTH h

Doh! Now I'll have to think of something else original It does get harderer and harderer...................

Maybe starting from that engine is the wrong way to approach it then??? Twist 40 is really good with a 52, have one now...........Tangos are also excellent with a 52/53 or a 70/75 4 Stroke, had two. However, I do know of one for that size engine, the "Diablotin 3D" , good luck, you might have to get a plan and build though!!

Think using a JET is more than a bit OTT............... Martin Muller's Indoor ultralight effort of quite a few years ago was quite good, can't find the night time well lit version, but try:- Star Trek? Various iterations of Enterprise have been done a number of times................

Received today................. "Thanks again for your Raspberry Pi order, reference number 1010141766. We are busy working with the suppliers who provide components for your Raspberry Pi to ensure you receive your order as quickly as possible. Since receiving your order, we have been advised that our next batch of approximately 40,000 Raspberry Pi’s will now be arriving during September, with further deliveries expected in October. This delay is due to the very high level of demand on the core Raspberry Pi processor chip. Unfortunately, this means that your order could be delayed by

+1 ! Off topic, so maybe reply in the 3 axis gyro thread, but did you get yours going? I now have three in use, one a Pro.

Any size is possible. Fewer are practical. Even less are sensible.

I thought I'd got rid of the Squirrels in my garden, but I was wrong..................... Eurocopter AS355 "Écureuil" (Squirrel) from an unpainted FunKey body. Pseudo Fire Service scheme (Will have "G-FIRE" lettering when I can get to a cutter IF it survives that long!! Chassis is an ancient Hirobo Shuttle ZXX (top start), Std 148 servos, Futaba 401 Gyro, OS 32 engine. I have modified the power and fuel systems to be able to access everything needed for normal use through the side window opening, also to show fuel level.

Almost like they meant it to...........................

Trevor, The same reason that people race a MIni when for the same money per year they could afford a racing Ginetta or Lotus, ETC.......... The same reason people fly (lets say for pure example ) a Magnatilla when its only if "in period" correct for little more than simple "staggering around" flight, when they could build and fly a full on 3D monster for the same money and effort............ Why am I 3D'ing a Mini-Mag when it'd be much easier to do the same with my Extra?

Ali Mcchinski has a pink spit. ...... But only after drinking raspberry juice.................. I like the Syrian Colours, Yes, DO IT!!!

First thing I did when I built a Spectrum ROM to RAM board was to alter the boot up logo to my nickname (which wasn't bravedan then) and then alter the screen boot up colours. Then I got serious and started altering Uncle Clive's OS "bugs"....................... C'Mon then, list the extra hardware you have attached so far!! I'd be very interested in building something I used a lot back then, a device to slow a running games prog to a crawl so you could see exactly how the programmer was building the screen and moving objects around (in those days mostly "sprites"). No crashes

All online, bored, are we?? Should be out Slope Soaring...................... Mill Hill today was EPIC!!!

I waited, so only last week got the nod that I was getting up the queue so could order. Still says 11 weeks though! I'm hoping I can have a bit of a laugh low level programming with it.......been around home computers since the days of the ZX81 and putting a packet of frozen peas on the Rampack to stop it crashing. And the ultimate personal business machine of its day, the Commodore Pet (with a massive 32k memory!) Quite enjoyed hacking around in the days before it all got too big for a single person. Still got a ZX81, 2 Spectrums, a Spectrum +2, a microdrive, home made PCBs that l

Well, he has the choice:- 1. Send me the right one as quickly as he can. (I'll happily post back, but it won't have stamps on it!!) 2. Find he has a PayPal claim against him, and me posting in every Forum I can that they are unreliable and not to be trusted. SIMPLES.....................

Just got home to find the postman has delivered the third board. Opened the package and I have been sent another A3, NOT the A3 PRO. Checked PayPal order, and def ordered the right one:- Eagle A3 Pro Micro Airplane Flight Controller with AVCS and Mode Control Function Item Number 83148 GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.....................

Couple of pics of the installation of my second non-switchable 3 axis gyro on my Indoor TechOne Piaget, flown successfully today in 5-8mph. Very impressive, setting as default, needed to reverse the elevator gyro action only. I was able to do an on the spot prop hang with multi turn torque roll despite the variable breeze, and a stable good looking knife edge was simple. and for comparison the one on my FireFly:-

I'm quite happy having non-switchable gyros on indoor lightweights, so am happy with what I have there (second one arrived while I was away this week to fit to my Piaget with fast servos)............have ordered a switchable one with heading hold and will probably fit to a Heli flybarless, maybe a 450, maybe a 500...........

From this:- 1. NOW we know you don't have a starter, do you! 2. How many turns open from completely closed do you have the main needle? Try 3 max. 3. With NO glow battery connected nor fuel line, but the plug IN, open the throttle fully and flip the engine over a few times. Sand the prop to remove any very sharp edges. Use a piece of stick wood or dowel as a "chicken stick". With an empty fuel line or spare pipe, connect the fuel line to the carb and open the throttle fully, then blow into the open end of the fuel line, you should hear air hissing into the carb............
-
"PRO" version now available, can be switched in flight!
-
Warm it up in an oven to loosen any coagulated oil so it's hot but still handleable, then with the plug out and the prop on run a little light lubricating oil into the carb inlet and the plug hole. If it then flips over by hand without locking, get it running over OK with a starter motor (watch out for sprayed oil!), then replace the plug and run it on fuel as soon as possible afterwards.

Well, the idea behind the salt water bath is twofold, it's in water, always helpful in case it tries to ignite, and it's in a slightly conductive medium which acts as if a resistor has been gently and safely placed across ALL the output terminals and any electrical contact point, external or internal where the water will penetrate. What I usually do is to run the battery down as far as I can (without being too anal over it), then, outdoors, I cut off the leads, power and balance, one at a time carefully avoiding short circuits of course, then I put an old washing bowl of salty water in a c

I'd suggest ThunderPower should know, and they say:- http://thunderpowerrc.com/PDF/DISPOSAL- ... TERIES.pdf This concurs with other advice I have read elsewhere. Its IMO very unlikely the pack is fully dead, just that its serial connections have severed somewhere. I have had three cell LiPo packs turn into two cell measured at the main output, i.e. one cell has shorted. This has been sudden and with no visible symptoms.
