  1. Or, they can just pay like everyone else? ... I think, as I get older, I am turning into the grumpy old man that I warned myself about when I was young ... Someone get out the humane killer please!
  2. Richard, We aactually discussed the ATC at the last committee meeting. Firstly, if you want to use them as a resource, then you have to use the squadrons local to where the event is. Secondly, you have to feed them, and in the past, we have had quite a large bill when faced with 20 teenage burger lusts. Lastly, we dont have either the time or the desire to supervise them, and the feeling is that you often dont get 100% useful effort (much less to be honest). All this combined, plus the fact that we dont actually need them, and we decided not to ask them or other similar parties t
  3. I thought you were going to be there all week anyhow?
  4. It certainly is value for money Steve - well, as long as your into it - I mean I'm not sure my wife would agree Think how much pleasure you'd get from building something from the balsa up and then flying it - I tell you, nothing beats it
  5. What a shame! Like I said, cool, scary and VERY exciting lol Well done for you attempts Steve. It looked very pitch sensitive to me, which would imply that it was TAIL heavy... Still, made a good video! I suggest you build your own one from some plans now Steve - what dya reckon? Jim

    Miles Mohawk Flies

Roger also flew his nice spitfire, so here's a few pics of that too...
  10. Met with our illustrious chairman on Friday evening as he was eating fish and chips with the family up at Fickleshole. He sucessfully maidened his Miles Mohawk which he finished some time ago, and here are the pics to prove it The model flew very well, despite both Rogers' and my worry about the models nose heaviness - the tail had to be held on the ground all the time the engine was running to stop it nosing over, and we had to restrain the tail and then release it at full throttle to achieve a takeoff with no digging in. Unfortunately, the model came in a little fast on landing, an

Ni Hao! (thats 'hello'). Well, I'm now sitting in the business lounge at Shanghai PuDong airport on my way home from my business trip. Its 10:25am here, and 3.25am in the UK. I'm hoping and praying that my 11:00am flight to London isnt cancelled or delayed by volcanos, and all being well, I may see some of you this Sunday! Cross your fingers, toes and anything else.... Nice to know someone misses me Steve The Expo was fun - not as big as I'd hoped, and with a fairly limited selection of models. All the vendors were particulary keen to speak to me and my mate, and we told them we were from London and representing a large and wealthy group of modellers with cash to burn! In the end, I bought 5 lovely little free flight models for £2 each, which you will see up the field on a summer evening - great looking little planes. I would have bought a petrol motor, but the only exhibitor was DLA and they only now sell 50cc and up it appears - and they didnt ha

Well, been here almost 2 weeks now. The China Expo which I am working on is HUGE! I really cannot tell you how big an area it uses up. I'll see if I can get an aerial photo somewhere to give you guys an idea of scale, but for now, lets say that the shuttle bus takes 15 minutes from our site to the main gate, and we are about in the middle - so thats a 30 minute bus ride from one end to the other. And we are only half of the site - the other part is - wait for it - on the other side of the river from us! Anyow, its all a lbit of a building site still, but its amazing what can be achei

  18. Well as I'm abroad, and this topic rarely gets any airtime I thought I'd post here. As you may or may not know, Ive been banished to Shanghai (China) for 6 weeks. I will perhaps post some pics of what I'm up to and where I am. No promises though - I'm supposed to be here to drin... no, to work!

    Plan covering

I think it'll be a joint effort Rod. Probably CAMFC will supply the grill etc. I'll check with the boss and let you know. Shall I bring some bacon sprinkles for you to pep your veggie burger up with???

    Plan covering

No worries Rod. I'll bring the roll up and you can take what you want. (At least I know you'll be there!!! )

    Plan covering

Rod, I have a large roll of cellophane. You are welcome to have some if you wish. The old fashioned way is to rub candle wax onto the plan, which also allows you to see through it when there's only one wing printed. Also, in the dim and distant past, I used the inside of cereal packets.... Like I said, you're welcome to have some cellophane. Jim

    YT Spitfire

Here's a drawing of the Spit (or Hurri) gunsight I just finished. I thnk I might stop doing AutoCad now and do some more modelling instead! lol

    YT Spitfire

Well at the moment Dave, the model is prepainted (as you will have seen) to be DLK "Brumhilde" of Johnny Johnson. This is a MkXIV. I am not too interested in scale fidelity - this isnt a scale model to enter into competitions with, its still an ARTF (I would not enter it into a class where people had built their models - just my opinion, not anyone elses ) That being said, if its marked up as a specific aircraft, then anything I do will reflect that model as far as I can be bothered. I've yet to properly look at any photos of this variant, and my entry into the world of CAD is ju

Still playing with AutoCad - I can now make holes in solid objects, so the cannon now has a hole in the end. Also drawn a radio mast as you can see!
