  1. So I'm having trouble finding a motor for my radjet. I'm hoping someone can point me the right direction. I think it's time for a crazy plane so here I am, but I do genuinely mean ballistic missile fast!!! I'm looking at the https://www.overlander.co.uk/tornado-thumper-v3-3542-05-1250kv-brushless-outrunner-rc-motor.html for the plane. I plan to use a https://www.overlander.co.uk/speed-controllers-ubec/speed-controllers/overlander-xp2-speed-controllers/overlander-xp2-60a-sbec-brushless-speed-controller-esc.html for the ESC and a 4s 1300mah LiPo. Now for the maths. 1lb is 450g gi
  2. Thanks Dave. They haven't had easy lives. They are only 25c yet they've powered edf's and hotliners! For £10 a pop from hobbyking I think tomorrow is the last time I will trust them in a decent plane. From then they'll be consigned to shockies and smaller stuff. B
  3. What are the problem and dangers of a puffy lipo? Will it die on me in the air or is it just performance that is affected? B
  4. Yeah sorry Trev I meant it as in they are only experimenting and interested in 4 volt batteries! That said that's a one cell lipo so perhaps the ultra micros could use them but that said I don't see why they can't put the cells together as it's just a polymer coating to protect the electrode. Maybe in a few years time they might appear in hobbyking! They would however last much longer that regular lithium packs and maybe the technology could be used for large applications e.g. car batteries? Wait and see I think
  5. Looks promising but then again they are only to be 4 volt so only good for tech not planes and when was the last time your laptop or phone caught fire? Nice to see a progression in the technology though
  6. Thanks Dave I may take you up on that offer but that said I have an old foldable bench that I could convert into a test bed.. Hope ur well, B
  7. I did look into getting a turbine turboprop but let's say that for the price you could probably get a second hand Ford Fiesta Thanks so much as usual Dave I really honestly don't know what I'd do without you! I think that's decided I'll go for nitro and I need to look into noise because if I were to get the 2 stroke I'd want it screaming and that may be over the limit. Bearing in mind though that my budget really is being stretched Are there any differences in setup/running between 2 and 4 stroke? B

    OS Gold

I think they're for display only! The was a gold cylinder head engine in rcm&e and he flew with that one. If you wanted a display engine I'd rather buy a huge radial for that price. That saud though you could sell it on ebay a few years from now and someone would give you much more than you paid for it.... Remember its only an .11 so the model would need to be quite small if you did want to strap 1 1/2 grand to a park flyer

    OS Gold

    https://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/engines/two-stroke/os-max-11ax-gold-limited-edition Wow!
  10. Surely you could set it up so that the rudder is synced with the throttle? That way regular up/down is thrust and left/right is differential thrust so in flight you just trim it and takeoff just use rudder as normal. All it would need is 2 Y-leads and a bit of mixing? This might have been suggested already but I didn't really get all of that KISS stuff B
  11. Thanks Trev I'll try that. See you tonight, B
  12. Hmmmm... the 100 and 120 are both out of stock on Laser's website and I can't find it anywhere else. I think I'll keep looking for it there must be a few somewhere!
  13. I also wondered about cowl filling to avoid the cowl becoming an oven? Any details about this please?
  14. So I came back to the South after a long gliding holiday in the highlands of Scotland and found that everyone had broke out their wallets and purchased new models. it's been a while since I bought one and since I didn't have anything scale I thought this might be the right time to get something. I was looking for a warbird of some sort but didn't want the cliché of a spitfire or mustang, and I came across the Super Tucano made by Seagull, seen here at TJD http://www.tjdmodels.com/seagull-super-tucano-91-inc-rtrk-sea124-p-3773.html All the models I've owned have only ever been up to a .46
  15. I need some more pro synth 2000 but don't want the usual 4 gallons due to budget I wondered if anyone had a gallon or two that they would be interested in selling to me for the full brand new price? B
  16. Any metal can potentially block signal from your tx to your rx but I wouldn't have thought there would be any effects on the wiring on flight controller. As with the accelerometer I couldn't say As long as your rx antennas are far enough away you should be in buisness....
  17. I replace the ones with bigger servos every year! In my hype for example I run big HS645MG servos that draw a ton of power so the batteries are constantly drained and re charged, so I don't risk them longer than a year or two at the most, and if it has been sitting for a year or so I also still bin it or keep it to power something non flight related... B
  18. Thanks for the info Dave! All my batteries are 6V vapextech items... b
  19. Thanks Trev see you later, B
  20. Hiya, If I 100% charged a regular 6V rx pack but then didn't fly the plane for some reason, do I need to discharge it that day and then charge it agin next week or can I keep it like a lipo IE at full charge for a few weeks? B
  21. Looking for my first warbird but I don't want an expensive brand new one in case I prang it. I though I'd first see if anyone had one that they might be interested in selling? Any shape and size, but preferably small enough to fly at Fickleshole and also preferably IC. I don't really mind what type it is, as long as it roughly fits the general warbird category. Thanks, B
  22. No I'm pilot ben??? Im confused
  23. Ok James, thanks. I wanted to ask how you have the tail feathers set up? Do you have both pushrod or have you got a closed loop rudder? See you tonight, B
  24. HI All, I have been gifted a brand new mini frantic kit by a friend. As most of you should now know I'm hopeless at anything that doesn't say ARTF or RTF on the box. I have been given a motor and a few various bits. Has anyone got one so I can ask them a few questions? B
