  1. Really interesting but not very practical. Sometimes my engines wont start even with the electric starter. As arun says, half the fun is messing around trying to start them Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  2. Hi Mike, as Gary says, any Sunday afternoon from about 11:00, unless the weather is extremely bad, there is usually a group of us at the field at Fickleshole in Featherbed Lane, near Addington Golf Course. There are several people who can train and test fly your plane for you. The last Sunday of the month a gun club use the field until about 2:30. There are several trainees so you are not alone. We also recommend using a computer flight simulator such as PHOENIX to speed up the training, it can save a lot of time learning. Hope to see you soonz Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  3. Another way to warm epoxy glue is put it in a microwave for 15 to 20 seconds (no longer!) depending on the power of the microwave Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  4. What a great video. You are right it is a lot like building a model. I like the test pilot wearing a parachute, the maiden and first stall and spin test must be a bit worrying. Also note the complete lack of safety apparatus in the spraying area! Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  5. I did actually wonder about that, just couldn't be bothered to Google it. Thanks for saving me the bother
  6. Gary, Watching with interest, lets have lots of pictures!
  7. Yes, the Storch looks lovely but it is expensive and as Geoff says, a bit heavy. That Landscape is very tempting though Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  8. After all the talk of petrol engines, I decided I just had to try it. I bought one of these on ebay. Btw, it comes complete with ignition and standoffs etc. Now I just need a plane to try it out on. Thinking of the 96" BlackHorse J3 Cub. What do people think of this for a start in petrol flying? I prefer the Black Horse Landscape 30cc but I think it might be too fast for our field.
  9. If you post a link to them I am sure someone will want them. Thanks for doing that.
  10. Youre too tall for a Ferengi Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  11. It could be that no one is looking at emails at your local club, it might be better to visit them at their flying field one weekend and ask about membership. Then you can see what their facilities are like including training and decide if you want to join and if they have a waiting list. Which club is it? Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

  13. What you are suggesting is very ambitious, twin engine planes are difficult enough when they are designed properly, never mind trying to adapt a trainer. I would get it flying as a single engine plane first if you are serious about flying. If you just want to try different things then just have a go with your own design. I would be surprised if anyone on this forum has attempted this so no one is likely to be able to offer you much advice. Let us know how it turns out. Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  14. Hi Daniel, is this you? http://www.caudata.org/forum/f1-general ... post329699 Still keep axolotls? How are they getting on? Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  15. Once I got the hang of throwing a plane around the sky, I found the Prangster, while not the best flyer, was the best plane to improve my basic flying skills as it was remarkably robust compared to most trainers.

  17. In addition to what Arun says, the battery and holder terminals can easily corrode and break contact whereas packs are welded or soldered to prevent this from happening. I agree with Arun, be safe and use proper packs.
  18. These people do Eneloop packs cheaper than the Overlander ones. I have a couple of them and they have been okay. http://www.component-shop.co.uk/html/lo ... harge.html I usually only cycle NiMh packs once a month and just top them up before each flight. I thought NiMh packs don't suffer from the memory issues that NiCd packs did?
  19. I would also suggest lots of practice on a simulator first, much cheaper than all the planes you seem to be getting through learning to fly. Good luck with the next one. Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  20. I have always found them to be very good and they can usually source most parts for engines.
  21. Have a look at http://www.justengines.co.uk. They sell the ASP80FS. Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  22. Imho a Saito 82 would be best. An ASP 80 (same dimensions as SC70 but more powerful) would be good Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
  23. Thats really interesting. They make it look so easy too.
