Sent my DX8 back to Horizon Hobby last Wednesday (in fact they sent FedEx to collect it at their own expense) and it was returned yesterday (Monday). The documentation said they re-programmed the RF board and upgraded and recalibrated the gimbals, all for no cost on an 18 month old radio! I can't fault their customer service.

Built up the wing root fairings on the fuselage. This uses 3 pieces of 1/64th ply each side, which is pre-cut to shape in the kit. The front part is finished with lightweight filler. The rear part of the fairing (not shown) is a plastic moulding which will be added later.

Glassed the wings using 20gsm glass tissue and epoxy resin

Whatever looks good to you but you might need some bright colours on top or bottom of the wing so you can see what way up it is
-
Looks very nice but as you say would need some strengthening for a gas engine

I will be building a new wing for the Magnatilla, which had an unfortunate mishap on Sunday. Also will be sending my DX8 back to Horizon for a checkup and upgrade following the unexplained sudden pitch-down glitch and subsequent loss of control that resulted in the Magnatilla incident. And finishing the Cambrian Spitfire Mk24 kit Arun, I would be very interested in the build of the lighting controller, please post all details of the construction and programming.

They don't make them like that any more But it is a lovely old bus, I think I remember them running along the south coast

Doh! Now I'll have to think of something else original

I always wanetd to make a flying Starship Enterprise. Hmmm! Wonder if that would work? (Thinks! Twin ducted fans. ....)

Almost like they meant it to........................... Absolutely! Great for a fighter or a reconnaisance plane, but not so good for a small model!

I can confirm it definitely WON'T be pink. Got my street cred to look after Anyway, come sunset it would be invisible against a pink sky

I still dont understand the attraction of programming on an R-Pi as opposed to, say, an Android smartphone or tablet which has lots of gizmos built in, like GPS, camera, phone, bluetooth and stuff. And if you manage to write something useful (that isnt already available in a gazillion different free programs like most of my ideas ) then you might even make money out of it! I hear there is a version of BBC Basic on R-Pi but it can't even do everything a BBC Model B could do, whats the point? P.S. I still have lots of Acorn User magazines if anyone wants to reference them.

Graham, Thanks. It might be as well to post any questions you have on this forum, as I could give a more considered answer than over the phone and others might be able to provide better answers. Also, others could benefit from them.

Wing span 63". engine Saito 91FS that I have from my Hype3D that crashed. This is the scheme I am considering, Syrian Air Force 1954 desert colours. Well, it's different!

Someone asked if I had any more detailed pictures of the construction, so here are some. (Can't believe how long ago this was!). Picture shows an ASP 80 4 stroke with silencer routed to scale outlet position and how it fits inside cowl. Hope these help!

Wings joined and bandaged. The servo leads will run in channels and exit through holes in the top of the wing
-
Some more work done on the wings, wheel wells and servo wells lined. Undercarriage is tilted forwards to help prevent nosedives.

Fin and tailplane fixed to the fuselage

I have built the tail pieces. They are quite a thick section and sheeted, should look good.

Alan Reynolds kindly gave me an unfinished kit, a Cambrian Spitfire Mk24. This is quite an old kit and was missing a few pieces, the most significant being the canopy which I have managed to replace with one from Traplet meant for a Dennis Bryant plan. The model is 63" span and has foam veneer covered wings. The fuselage was mostly built by Alan and the wings were started. Some surgery was needed as it had been kept in damp conditions and the veneer had started to come away from the foam core but this was easily fixed with some aliphatic glue. The kit is interesting because nearly al

Ok I get that, educate the kids with proper low level hardware, like what we used to do back in the day. But why have you got one? Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

Yes but you can program lots of things much easier than these. You can put linux on a laptop and program anything you want. These seem to be a throwback to Bbc micro 6502 days, still haven't got a grasp of what they are all about. Must be missing something! Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

What is the interest in these things? They seem very limited to me. Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
