I use artists acrylics to get more realistic colours but they do not stand up to fuel too well. A coat of varnish helps. Humbrol would stand up to the elements better but flesh colours are difficult to get Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

The exhaust method works but I find that 4 strokes dont require priming as much as 2 strokes, they often start easily without, at least my saito and asp ones do Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

Shane, Welcome! Probably see you at the field one Sunday, after the snow has gone.

MUSTARD - what a great English acronym!

I have made these using wire cyanoed outside 4mm tube bound with shrink tube. The end of the wire can be bent 90deg and inserted into a small hole drilled in the tube, for extra purchase. Use two or more shrink tubes for more strength. Cyano the shrink tube as well Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

Kingslynn modelshop has the hubsan quad for 29.99, in case anyone is wanting to buy one Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

All the links I look at are selling Hubsan X4 mini or micro Quadcopter. Are these the same thing or is there a "full size" as well as mini/micro versions?

Came across this site which has some useful electric flight resources, such as free software.

Afraid it had to be done, the Cougar funfly replacement. I must admit it is a well built model for a foamy. Took longer than 30 minutes to put together though mainly due to all the stickers. Must do something to differentiate it from the other clones. Some fluorescent stripes maybe.

And a Happy New Year from me and Bev. Arun, make sure you dont drop the kids when juggling them, it causes all sorts of problems.

Better stay there for now, the floods have arrived, just waiting for the locusts and frogs swarms Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

Besides, this plane kit costs about £220 then you will need a 1.20 size engine and high torque servos which could cost another £300 or more, so it sounds like this is outside your budget anyway. As Lofty says, a radio upgrade to 2.4Ghz would be a good way to spend £250 at this stage, imho.

How are you getting on flying your other planes? It might be better to get those flying and see what kind of plane you prefer before spending on a new one Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

Use the iron carefully to stick the covering down at the edges; dont get it too hot. If it wont stick you might have fuel in the wood. Use Meths to get rid of as much fuel as possible then use Balsaloc or similar to stick the covering down. A hair dryer is probably not hot enough to shrink the film, a hot air gun is better. If you dont have one, an iron can be used but be careful not to get it too hot else it will melt the covering too much or even puncture it. Stick the covering down at the edges then shrink it in the middle. If the covering wont cover the fuselage properly you will

I am all for that, I would love to dust off my old CF Middle Phase and get it airborne again.

Basically fit an electric brushless motor to the front with a folding propeller and an ESC and LiPo battery in the fuselage. Might have to move servos etc around to fit it all in and watch the C of G but it shouldn't be too difficult. Items can be purchased from e.g. GiantShark.co.uk fairly cheaply. The biggest problem is deciding the motor size; this doesn't have to be too big as a glider is not meant to do 3D just enough to make it climb. An alternative could be a pod mounted motor

If you fancy trying slope soaring have a look at this site. As Arun says, launching a glider using a tug is not for the inexperienced and in the scenario you describe would require at least three people including two experienced flyers. Imho, an electric conversion with a folding prop might be the better option as it could be flown like any other plane up to height then turned off to glide. Otherwise, one of the slope sites where you might find a helpful pilot who will test fly it for you. Make sure you have insurance though. Gliders are a different flying style than I/C planes b

1. Throw it off a hillside aka slope soaring 2. Fit an electric motor 3. Tow it with a tug e.g. large (min. 26cc) Cub Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2

I think Alan has another lock for the same key. A new set of keys would cost a lot and we would have to distribute them to all the other fields users too. I think Alan gets the locks refurbished

This Cougar finally met its demise last Sunday in the fun fly. I had 6 years flying from it, not too bad! Time to get a new one or maybe something different, Foam E Wot4 maybe? Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk 2
