1. Anyone interested in an online session at 8pm either Sat/Sun or both?
2. What scenery is the first one Dave?

Online NOW!

Sorry I missed it. It works best if we pick a time slot the night before then can plan to be there. Most days after 8pm I can manage a bit of online time.
4. I think the simulator doesn't correctly simulate model mass/surface area vs wind. I've noticed this even on bigger planes in the sim. Overall with Sims I've found the best thing is to tweak it until it flies like the real thing (which requires a bit of actual experience) and take it from there.
5. Thanks Trevor, Peter ... I'll let you know how I get on.
6. Thanks, I imagine that would work - doesn't show that I've been flying solely electric for the last year or so does it
7. Hoping someone experienced with 4-strokes can help here. It occurred to me last night that although the Saito 82 looks lovely inside the cowl of the AcroWot, but it is going to be a bit of a pain to prime. Since the engine is at back of engine deep inside the cowl it will be hard to cover with a finger to draw fuel through during priming. So what is the normal approach with models setup like this - is it just a case of trying to get a finger inside the cowl, or do you just avoid priming and flick it over more etc. What are the tricks? Maybe you can close the needle valve all the way? S

10. Got the cowling cut today. Decided to cut some extra holes for cooling in bottom of cowling. Also found myself childishly amused by the shape of the main cut out in the cowl - clearly this plane is "all man". Exhaust Manifolds

.... and the results can be seen here.
12. Lots of deliveries this week, not a lot of progress due to other unwanted distractions such as work! Now have carbon/ali tube for pushrods and an alternative manifold and muffler for the engine. This weekend then should see the dreaded cowl destruction and hopefully installation of all the control runs. Few pics of the engine with the new manifold allowing a more sensible exhaust routing. Think the u/c is going to get a bit messy with exhaust residue, but better that it getting in the servos or wing/fuz joining/radio compartment. For reference in the future if anyone has a Saito 82B and do

Exhaust Manifolds

Yes, but they're quite pricey for what they are.

Exhaust Manifolds

Thanks Jim, it's certainly a possibility but as you say a bit unorthodox I've spoken to Macgregor the distributors of Saito and I think I have managed to get hold of a "straight" silencer and a manifold with a bigger angle. When I get them I'll let you know if that helps ... Cheers.
15. Welcome! Great choice of trainer ... amazing the flight envelope they have beyond training with the rates up

Exhaust Manifolds

I'm not very happy with the position of the muffler with the stock manifold on the Saito 82B as in picture below, it's just going to pump oil directly at the wing (and servo) or the wing/fuse join. The picture doesn't really show the fact that the muffler is as good as touching the fuselage! Seems there are a variety of other manifolds you can get at various angles, but presumably others have hit this problem before me - what tends to work best for side mounted four strokes to get the muffler in a sensible position without having too much effect on engine performance? 17. Thanks Alan + Trevor, I'll let you know how I get on!
18. Tail all done. Drilled the mount for the Saito 82 - what a lovely lump of metal that is!! Will need to move the throttle linkage from the standard for the model (looks like an OS FS in the instructions) but should be easy enough. Also looks like the engine needle is going to be very close to the silencer on the underside of the fuz, might be a bit fiddly for tuning. Have elected to throw away the elevator pushrod that came with the kit after chatting with Sam. Am going to fashion my own from 3 or 4mm carbon tube as described here by Darroll Cady and am making the assumption 3 or 4mm will b

Klemm 25

Very nice! Makes me feel bad for thinking my AcroWot is too much work ...
20. Wings joined and lights fitted. Empennage started. Discussed some mods with Sam over weekend. Larger wheels a must. Might need to stiffen the elevator pushrod or replace with a snake system - but not sure if going to be necessary.
21. Well, there's two out of sight and I probably either crashed or sold the rest Had to scale back a bit due to the demands of the kids, but keeping my hand in. One day I'll have 30 airframes ...
22. House move complete, the build can restart! I've tidied my new workshop (big step up from the back bedroom in a terrace house!). Plan is to start with the wings as I need to install the lights and servos and get them joined over the next few evenings...
23. Welcome back Forum has been pretty quiet of late with the bad weather...
24. And the same from all of us! Having a crazy day juggling two little ones and cooking for the in-laws All the best for 2013! Cheers
25. Well, I went to Brooklands today and they seem to have the cockpit of one ... But that's it - don't think it will be flying at all soon
